So since so many asked, we thought it was only fair (and useful) to do an honest Wild deodorant review and put it to the test against Proverb’s natural refillable deodorant. And no, this won’t be a biased review either: It has to be natural, it has to have no additives, nothing that could be an endocrine disruptor or impact our performance. We never use aluminium, parabens, petroleums or synthetic fragrance. We will only take the elite ingredients nature provided to ensure you get results. Smelling fresh and staying dry all day long while you live your life in accordance to GET OUT WHAT YOU PUT IN. Proverb lists all of their fragrances on the INCI lists for each of the deodorants, hence why you might notice that their INCI list is longer, in comparison to Fussy. However, when launching Proverb decided to create a Sensitive & Unfragranced option, specifically for sensitive skins. This has no aroma, but the actual base deodorant is also different making it more suitable for super sensitive skins, plus being baking soda free.

Fussy does not have different levels of sensitivity currently. They do offer an unscented version, which is great for those who may react to fragrances, but only in their main formulation (which contains sodium bicarbonate) so not ideal on very sensitive skins.

Why has it happened? Skin is complex, so it is always difficult to find the exact reason (20 years training facialists and making skincare products, we are well versed in this!) The most likely two causes would be an allergy to an ingredient or a pH imbalance. This can occur due to a pH difference between your sweat, which is acidic and the sodium bicarbonate which is alkaline. Remember our sensitive / teen deodorant does not contain sodium bicarbonate. Really cannot fault any part of my experience and am more than happy to recommend them to anyone and everyone. Sodium Bicarbonate is in all of Fussy’s deodorants. Although this is a brilliant natural deodoriser, people can be allergic to the ingredient - causing the armpit to become inflamed, red and itchy. Also known as Baking soda, it is alkaline and your skin is acidic, hence the issues. The brand states that the amount is so small, it shouldn't cause a problem to the majority of people . If you do have extremely sensitive skin, we would always recommend trialling it first in the inner crease of your elbow. Apricot is known for its nourishing Vitamin E properties to leave your underarms feeling soft and smooth. There may be rare occasions where this occurs. What should I do? If your skin is irritated, then stop applying the product and anything else to that area. If it is uncomfortable, then we would suggest just applying cold compresses. I opted for the Coconut & Tonka active option (I always opt for the active option with Natural Deo Co.) Whereas the natural deodorisers and sweat absorbers used are: Tapioca, Cornflower, Sodium Bicarbonate/ baking soda (only in the Active versions), Magnesium, plus an additional deodoriser that Proverb keeps secret as it is different to their competitors. In the Core & Sensitive deodorant ranges, there is no sodium bicarbonate. In the Sensitive deodorant arrowroot swaps in instead of cornflower. Proverb deodorant is made only with ingredients (link to full ingredient list) derived from nature. We approach our formulas like we would a Nutribullet smoothie and how we did our professional athlete diet sheets for all those years. So this is the end of our in-depth Fussy deodorant review. We could do a score tally and try to add it up... However, it is important to remember that at their core, both Fussy and Proverb are aiming to reduce single-use plastic and ensure people move away from mainstream aluminium filled deodorants and roll-ons. Proverb currently has four flavours available, with a fifth launching towards the end of 2022. The current flavours are Wild Mint & Eucalyptus, Coconut & Tonka, Lemongrass & Myrtle and a Sensitive & Unfragranced deodorant. Sensitive skins need looking after differently and this is something that we were determined to specialise in. In the natural deodorant market, Sodium Bicarbonate has amazing efficacy, but it is known to irritate some sensitive skins. So, we wanted our sensitive formula to be free of this but still have amazing efficacy. We have also swopped in arrowroot and added Chia and Broccoli seed oil to protect delicate skins. Antiperspirants are formulated to actually decrease or stop sweat- hence the name anti perspiring. They do this by using aluminium to plug your sweat gland and stop the sweat from coming out. Deodorants do not do this. They allow the sweat to come out (a much healthier route we believe) but they then work against the odour.A specific fraction of coconut oil fatty acids.
