Description

Samsung’s TV lineup is split into distinct ranges based on the type of panel being used. Its most advanced TV is called “The Wall” and uses Micro LEDs. This exceedingly expensive TV was only available in 89in, 101in and 110in models in 2022, but is set to come in a wider range of sizes this year. Further down the lineup, you have Samsung’s QLED range. These TVs use panels with bog standard LEDs but picture performance gets a boost from the same quantum dot filter that’s incorporated into Neo QLED and QD-OLED models.

Ambient Mode: Transform your TV into a beautiful work of art and blend it seamlessly into your living room. C: This refers to the year of manufacture. Samsung has skipped a number of letters in recent years but A indicates 2021, B 2022, and C 2023.

Basic LCD sets like those in the Crystal UHD range typically use the former naming convention, while QLED alternatives use the latter. Samsung typically announces its upcoming flagship TVs at the annual CES conference in Las Vegas in January. It then takes a few months for these to actually appear online and in shops.

Samsung Q75B: Pros and Cons

QN: This relates to the range – QN being the company’s Neo QLED range. S represents the QD-OLED range. Both the Samsung Q80B and QN85B feature Samsung's Game Bar feature, which makes it easy to access their great HDMI 2.1 options. (Image credit: Samsung) Samsung Q80B vs Samsung QN85B: Gaming It’s a similar story where many of the other features of these model ranges are concerned – the more expensive S80B is, basically, better-specified than its S60B sibling. T: This letter represents the type of tuner. Here, T indicates it’s a twin DVB tuner; you may also see U being used, which represents a single DVB tuner. There are some similarities between these two models, of course – they both have very minimal bezels, for example, which means they’re basically all screen when viewed from dead ahead. Both stand on a central pedestal, so if they’re not being wall-mounted they don’t need an especially wide surface to stand on. But there are more distinct points of difference between these two models than similarities, where both features and design are concerned, and they’re all worthy of consideration.Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Q: This reflects the panel type, with Q covering both Neo and basic QLEDs. S, meanwhile, refers to QD-OLED panels, while U denotes basic LED panels. The Samsung Q60B (left) is more svelte than the Q80B (right). (Image credit: Samsung) Samsung Q60B vs Q80B: design Both of these models take the needs of gamers very seriously indeed. The Q80B supports HDMI 2.1 across all four of its HDMI 2.1 ports, including the 4K 120Hz compatibility, ALLM, HGiG and VRR (including Freesync Premium Pro) aspects of next-gen console specification too.

Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white outputIt’s here that the Q80B puts the most decisive distance between itself and its more affordable sibling – if you take next-gen console gaming seriously, the Q80B is massively the better choice here. The company’s Neo QLEDs are more affordable despite their highly advanced panel technology. These use Mini LEDs, which are larger than Micro LEDs but significantly smaller than regular LEDs, to light their panels, along with a quantum dot filter. They’re brighter and more energy-efficient than their standard LED counterparts and feature many more local dimming zones, which helps improve contrast and overall image quality. Percentage luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output
