Description

As part of our RG505 review we ran some system benchmarks which we can use to see how well in general the RG505 performs We can also compare with other Android devices. The apps themselves however still take a bit of setting up, but it’s mainly for where the game files can be located on either internal or micro SD card storage. Some apps did require a bit more setting up such as the controls. The start and select are in the same position. I know many of you like these on the face of the device but I do not, and the outdated white text doesn’t help the minimal metal aesthetic in my opinion. RG351MP (LEFT) VS RG353M (RIGHT)

Using Win32 Disk Imager, flash the firmware image to the microSD card. This can take 10-15 minutes. The RG353 has two separate SD card slots. The TF1 slot card will hold your Linux OS and all relevant files. The TF2 slot card is extra storage and can therefore be used to hold your games. Anbernic has also recently released a PS version of the RG353. This PS version comes in the same SNES controller horizontal form factor but has only 1GB of memory and single boot to Linux. If you are looking for a horizontal form factor and looking to save a little money, the RG353PS might be a good option. RG351MP ( Will not work for the the RG351P or RG351M!) - GDrive | Mega | (Updated 09/29/2023) MD5:ADF936F1EAF0BA07707946859B01DA8C | Changelog | RG351MP - FAQ Edit April 2023: The issue with the v2 screens has been fixed in newer builds of the ArkOS installation We ran the Antutu benchmark on a loop and got 5 hours 20 mins which is a decent time. Android Overview

If you're using some other flavor of Ubuntu like Xubuntu that doesn't have Disks installed by default, you can install the disks app by typing sudo apt install gnome-disks from terminal. Option to use Retroarch as the main frontend by holding the B button during boot and selecting Retroarch while in the Boot and Recovery Tool menu (BaRT). DO NOT USE BALENA ETCHER WITH THIS IMAGE! There has been reports of various strange issues and inconsistent performance using Etcher for this image.

Before doing this please still watch the video guide above to get you accustomed to the process. Also watch the "add games" guide video. Once you’re done, you may get several errors saying that the disk needs to be reformatted. Close them and eject the microSD card. ANBERNIC has kept in their lane with this device and tweaked it efficiently over the last two years to a point where it’s close to perfect. The Blue colour was a very popular colour on the past model. Which is your favourite? Let us know in the comments. RG353M Colours

Run PortMaster from ArkOS, TheRA or RetroOZ through Options > Tools > PortMaster menu, 351Elec/AmberElec from Ports > PortMaster menu The only complaint I have is about the sloppiness of information about system-updates. Most is available on win.anbernic.com, though I only found the latest Android-version (v1.11E at the time) on a YouTube-video for a different device, but the description of the link said v1.10E. Same with the links on win.anbernic.com, which are partly wrong or have a wrong description. For example, the link for the Android-version 1.10E, was the same link as for the Linux-variant. I would wish for more diligence in creating the information and a bit more structure. As a developer and techie, it was doable for me, but still took quite a while to figure out what is what and where to find it. I bet there's less tech-savvy people, who love to enjoy their retro-handheld, but have problems updating there system. There's reddit, there's YouTube, but I'd prefer to have less of a hassle from the official source. Instead of retyping information that’s already available elsewhere, let me help you find them instead! Here are some links that can help you with an RG351P and RG351V related concern or question. You can find that information via the ArkOS Emulators and Ports information wiki link here. If there are updates to Ports, how will that work? On top of the device you will find newly designed shoulder buttons, and this is because the device is considerably thinner than the previous model, so notable in fact that it feels like a whole new handheld and the reduction in size means reduction in weight, coming in at just 232g which is fairly light for a metal device. When it loads, open the TF2 drive. You should be able to see the following folders via Windows Explorer:
