Description

SpinFits have been around for quite a while, and are most well-known for their patented design which allows the pronation of the silicon tips to achieve a snug seal in your ear canal without any crumpling of the tip. Today we will be covering the CP100+ model, which is an update to the ubiquitous CP100 tips SpinFit have become so well-known for. Comfort and FitThe midrange of the SpinFit tips does sway towards the leaner side of the spectrum with more defined transients. Compared to some of the better foam tips (True Fidelity & Campfire Audio’s Marshmallows), the SpinFit’s silicones are more neutral-orientated at the expense of the more rounded and softer impact that the former tips render. Treble Fits Jabra 75t, Google Pixel, and more without adapters. Has special adapters for AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds. As I mentioned earlier, the CP100 and CP100+ are vastly similar in sonic properties and are almost indistinguishable. I have included a frequency response measurement comparing the CP100, CP100+ and a random pair of foam tips as a control for some comparison. Quality of the bass from SpinFit tips is quite impressive with well-defined notes and good texturing across the upper bass and lower mid transition. Granted, it does not have as much weight behind it as True Fidelity foam tips or Symbio W hybrid tips. However, it pairs well with already capable in-ear monitors with bass which is tauter and more disciplined. Midrange They’re quite comfortable and in fact I find them to be slightly more comfortable than the CP100, because they fit more snugly in my ears. They’re the closest equivalent I have found among silicone tips to the sensation foam eartips give me: that my ear canal is sealed by something that fits snugly in it while respecting its shape and boundaries. In other words, it doesn’t feel like something that gets inside my ears while trying to impose its presence, asking my ear canal to adapt to it, but it feels like something that fits in the canal trying to take the space in there and nothing more. It’s a weird sensation that’s very difficult to describe, but I hope I somehow gave you an idea.

The AZ70 has a neutral sound with the original ear tips. With CP360 ear tips, the bass improves in the meat which makes the AZ70 a little more enjoyable. SpinFit CP360 ear tips with Technics AZ70 Audio-Technica ANC300TW with SpinFit CP360 As for sound, my impression is that they are quite neutral and I can’t hear significant differences compared to other tips like the CP100. This is actually desirable, so kudos to SpinFit!The SpinFit CP800 were the only ones I could not try due to not having compatible earphones: they are made for super-thin nozzles like those used by Shure, Westone and Etymotic. At just 2 mm wide, the inner bore is too narrow to house earphones with 4 mm nozzles (believe me, I tried). I will update this review as soon as I lay my hands on compatible earphones, but I expect them to behave exactly like all other eartips in this list. SpinFit CP1025 The trebles on the EM6L are really well extended. They are very airy and detailed. However, the detailed trebles come with their cons too. As such, the EM6L is a bit sibilant. It also doesn't compare to the Xenns Top, which has very well extended, extremely detailed, and quality trebles but presents them in a controlled and smooth manner. Hence, it is not fatiguing or overwhelming during long sessions. The Top also has better technicality and separations than the EM6L or the Khan by a huge margin (understandably as they belong in different price ratios). So the trebles sound better on the Xenns Top. The EM6L sometimes sounds fatiguing and piercing with treble-heavy songs. Here are the wired earphones I have in my collection and tried them with the CP100. Sony XBA-4 with SpinFit CP100

The reason is quite simple: universal earphones (i.e. non-custom IEMs) require fiddling with the tips more often than not. Moreover, eartips are just about the cheapest (and often most reproducible) way of tuning an earphone. So we all end up with boxes of eartips of our own, sooner or later. The Spinfit CP-100 is probably the most popular Spinfit eartips around. They are also the most widely available one. The original CP-100 model had a fairly stiff, color-coded stem (with color changing upon size) and the outer material was also fairly stiff. This model suited a number of IEMs especially those with a shallow nozzle (e.g. Dunu Luna, pictured below). The CP-100 was pretty much a utilitarian eartip, as in it would suit most models without affecting the FR too much or causing discomfort. I personally found the surface of the tip to be somewhat itchy after long-term use, and the stiffer outer layer didn’t have the best grip with the inner-ear wall. SpinFit told me that the silicone in this case is “edible grade”, so even though it’s probably best to not put these over your pasta you probably won’t have any allergic or otherwise adverse reactions to it. SpinFit W1 Passive isolation is quite good, too: probably due to the relatively deep insertion and wide dome, the SpinFit W1 are quite successful at sealing off the ear canal and therefore offer great isolation. Final Thoughts One of the main things I like about SpinFits is how durable they are. Being silicone tips, they last many times longer than foam tips and hence are much more value-for-money IMO.

I did a comparison on the Sennheiser IE300 with the CP100+ and CP360. My ears detected the following characteristics: SpinFit claim their double-flange tip to offer ‘triple-flange’ isolation. However, Etymotic’s triple-flange eartips generally offered superior levels of noise isolation when compared to SpinFit’s model. With that said, the SpinFit double flange tip was far superior in comfort and it was surprisingly unobtrusive in prolonged listening sessions. With the easy 360 o rotation, the SpinFit ear tips were perhaps the easiest silicone eartips to install and remove from any in-ear monitor nozzle. Let’s look at the different SpinFit models, and compare how they fit on a selection of IEMs. Note that the sizing within each model (Small, Medium, Large) only affects the width of the flange and how that fits your ear, and does not affect the size of the bore or how well they will fit on different IEMs. CP100/CP100+ Where foam tips are concerned, however, the True Fidelity tips provided with 64 Audio models as well as the Marshmallow tips by Campfire Audio were found to be most comfortable. Interestingly, the SpinFit single-flange tip was more comfortable than MandarinE’s Symbio W hybrid tip (an ear tip with a thin layer of silicone coating an inner thermoplastic memory-foam core). Disclaimer: I received the ear tips from SpinFits at no charge in exchange for an honest review of my experience with them. My thoughts and opinion here are all my own.

SpinFit CP1025

Sound-wise, there is better bass performance than the Comply Foam while the upper treble remains clear.
