I’m not saying worm composting, ie composting without heat, doesn’t work. It does. Again, based on the number of questions people ask about this it doesn’t look like they find it easy.

Promoting Soil Health: Compost enriches the soil, improving its structure, water retention, and nutrient content. Healthy soils can absorb and store carbon, helping to mitigate climate change. Cotton wool balls and pads, tampons, toilet paper cores and even natural latex condoms and gloves can go into Subpod. Old clothing, face washers, napkins, tablecloths and very old towels can be used as long as they are made from natural fibres like cotton, tencel, linen, hemp or wool (no polyester, nylon, acrylic or blends) – just shred them into small pieces first. Washer and dryer lint is okay too, as long as it comes only from clothing made from natural fibres. Ants tend to colonize a Subpod if the system is too dry. This can happen if your worm blankets aren't regularly soaked, or if the food waste is not stirred in. If your scraps are left to sit on top of the bedding of the Subpod, even under the worm blankets, they can dry out and cause issues. Keep your waste covered as much as possible while you are collecting it, so the flies can’t lay eggs in it before it gets to your compost system. You can use sealed compost bins/containers in your kitchen to seal your food scraps and keep out any unwanted pests.Chop your food scraps up to smaller pieces during food prep. This will ensure that they break down faster in the Subpod, making it easier to bury as you mix them in, and your worm population will grow faster. There’s a lid that seals the top and the whole thing is buried, or partially buried, in the soil or into a raised bed. Essentially Subpod is a plastic container, divided into two sections. The sides and bottom are perforated sufficiently to allow worms and smaller living creatures in and put but too small to let mice and rats in.
