The second character is a letter and a very important one to note, as it indicates the undertone. You may get the shade’s intensity level right, but if you don’t match the undertone, it will be for nothing! This isn’t meant to be an exact conversion chart, but rather a rough guide to help you find your perfect foundation shade. You’ll also notice that some of the Double Wear shades are matched to the same MAC shade. This is because Estee Lauder have some shades that are only subtly different, and in this case I recommend either looking at swatches online or going in store to find your perfect shade. Why Should You Know Your MAC Shade? Estee Lauder and MAC are two of the best foundation brands available. Estee Lauder Double Wear is my current daily choice of foundation, while MAC offers a huge range of foundations for different skin types and situations. Whichever brand you’re looking at trying out, I’ve created a conversion chart between Estee Lauder Double Wear and the MAC shades to help you find your perfect match. Wear confidence with Double Wear Makeup and stay flawless for whatever comes your way. With 24-hour wear, this fresh matte, oil-free makeup controls oil all day. It’s sweat-, heat- and humidity-resistant, waterproof, lifeproof and 24-hour colour true. Shake well and allow any liquid foundation to dry completely before confirming it’s your perfect shade.

To complete our Estée Lauder Double Wear shades course, we need to focus on the meaning of the last digit! Once you determine which is your first number and letter, it’s the last digit that leads you to your shade. The last digit reflects the depth of the color and varies just as the first digit does, from lighter to darker as the numbers go up. This character in particular varies only between 0 and 4, but not all combinations of first number + second letter have options of the last digit from 0 to 4. Let’s see an example! The combo 3W only comes in 3W1, 3W1.5, and 3W2, missing the combinations of 3W0, 3W3, and 3W4 (maybe for the future, who knows!). Review: Lancome Teint Idole vs. Estee Lauder Double Wear vs. YSL All Hours: Which Foundation is Best for You?

How can you determine the right shade for you

The first number indicates that the shade of liquid foundation is different, also known as color level; Estée Lauder foundations are divided into three categories: cool (C), neutral (N), and warm (W) -dependent on your undertone. This foundation ensures perfect skin and a fresh complexion all day long, thanks to its stay-in-place SPF 10 formula. Its ultra-comfortable texture is both fluid and lightweight, offering buildable, flawless coverage for a look that's both perfect and natural.

However, this Esteé Lauder sheer foundation is different, because being part of the double wear family of course meant that naturally it was light as a feather but still provided very good medium coverage and it did give that ‘your skin but better finish’ as promised, and bonus, no ashy/chalky finish in sight. Double Wear foundation's mattifying, oil-control formula promises even skin that always looks fresh, never shiny. It stays in place all day, and resists heat, humidity, and exertion. Neutral (N) undertones : your skin sits somewhere in between and is neither too pink nor noticeably golden. Estée Lauder's biggest gift of all, in one stellar collection. All in a deluxe train case made with 100% recycled fabric. It comes in a wide range of shades that flatters all and it won’t look grey on deeper skintones. It unifies uneven skintone and covers imperfections with buildable, medium-to-full coverage that feels lightweight and so comfortable, you won’t believe it’s long wear. Double Wear is the makeup that keeps up—no matter where your day takes you. Apply it once and don’t think twice. No touchups needed.

There is a tone for the majority of skin colors. It has 55 shades to choose from, including cool, neutral and warm tones. It won't look grey on deeper skintones. Estée Lauder is known for its extensive shade range for its foundations, with plenty of options available for the lightest and darkest of complexions and everyone in between. Once you've determined your undertone, the number relates to the value of your skin, with the larger numbers representing deeper skin tones. This Estée Lauder foundation colour guide helps explain the foundation-naming system so you can find the right shade for you.

It’s incredible to have a foundation range with so many shade options (57 and counting!). Yet, that can be a curse when it comes time to choose your shade. Now that you know everything about the shade codes, it should be easier once you eliminate the ones that are obviously not a fit. We’re dividing our advice depending on your shopping option; we have tips for buying in-store, and different tips for those giving a shot to intuitive online shade matching (this should be a trademark concept!). If you’re buying on-line…

Choose your skin’s intensity level (from light to deep) and undertone (cool, neutral or warm). Undertone is the way your bare skin looks and behaves. Which one of the below sounds most like you? We can judge the tone of our skin tone according to the color of the blood vessels of the wrist, and then decide to buy W, N or C. Giorgio Armani vs. Dior vs. Charlotte Tilbury vs. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, Which is the Best? Available in a large variety of shades for all skin tones, Estée Lauder foundation colours can be a little confusing with their unique coding system. Estee Lauder DW makeup foundation color numbers are distinguished by the method of "number + letter + number", such as 1c1, 2n1, 3w1. There are three different undertones that you can expect to find in the Estée Lauder Double Wear shades, determined by the letter in the shade code. Let’s start by decoding the [C], which stands for “cool” undertones. When choosing a foundation with this undertone, you’re getting a shade that’s more on the pink side, if your natural skin tone is light to medium. For deep skin tones, a cool undertone can show hues of pink, red, or blue.
