When Captain Squid leaves his treasure map in the Little Kingdom, Redbeard the Elf Pirate leads Ben, Holly, and Nanny Plum on a treasure hunt. The map says the treasure is deep underwater and guarded by a mermaid and a golden sea monster! Holly needs her wand to do magic. But one day, Holly loses her wand and is very sad. Ben uses his elf skills to find it again. King Leopold has announced he is paying a visit to The Little Kingdom. Everyone is very excited that they have a VIP coming and preparing to welcome him in style. King Thistle is feeling left out... he is a king too! A magical card arrives at the Little Kingdom, inviting everyone to a party at Granny and Granpapa Thistle's castle. The party is full of wonderful surprises and Granpapa shows everyone his funny hobbies. Ben and Holly want to play with Gaston the ladybird, but he is missing. Nanny Plum uses her magic crystal ball to retrace Gaston's steps and find his whereabouts.

The children are at the Elf Farm, but to learn where milk comes from they must visit a Big Farm, to find cows. They travel to Lucy Big's Farm, where she shows them all the animals. Nanny Plum teaches the girls some important fairy rules. However, when Nanny Plum is accidentally blown everything by a strong wind, Ben, Holly, Violet, Strawberry, and Gaston must come to her rescue. The duo befriends a caterpillar called Betty, who wishes she could fly, and King Thistle advises them to fatten her up. They soon get a big surprise the next day!

Mr Elf is Ben Elf's father and Mrs Elf's husband. He is very serious and often likes hard work. He is the food deliverer to the fairies and elves and delivers presents to Father Christmas. He once was a sailor and he quite enjoyed being one until a fish known as "Big Bad Barry", ate most of his boats after that experience he decided he will not sail again. He retired and instead worked to deliver food to the people of the Little Kingdom. The Elf Factory is deep down in the roots of The Great Elf Tree. It is almost Christmas time and the elves are busy making toys. When there is a problem with the toys a little bit of magic saves the day. Mrs Fig (voiced by Morwenna Banks) is the teacher of Mrs Fig's Magic School who notably speaks with a Scottish accent. Nanny Plum used to go there and Holly and her friends went there when they were old enough. Despite being a fairy, she detests magic and says the most important rules of magic are "Don't use magic" and "Magic should only be used for serious things". As a result, the Wise Old Elf likes her as they have similar views on magic. Mrs Fig loathes Nanny Plum, who is implied to have been her worst student as she does not adhere to Mrs Fig's ideas on magic.

Mr. Elf has built a new boat to replace the one Big Bad Barry ate. So Mr. Elf is very nervous when the king commands him to take them all on a cruise to a tropical paradise. Will Big Bad Barry strike again? Naughty Daisy and Poppy magic their teacher, Mrs. Fotheringill, to the centre of the Earth. Granpapa Thistle leads Ben and Holly on a dangerous mission through dinosaurs and volcanoes to find the missing teacher. King Thistle wants bread for his Royal breakfast, but there isn't any flour in the castle. Mr. Elf takes Ben, Holly, and Nanny Plum to the Elf Windmill to find out why it takes so long to make flour. It's Father's Day in The Little Kingdom and all the dads are given a day off work to go and play together in the meadow. Ben and Holly are surprised to learn that The Wise Old Elf is a dad too, with three sons of his own. Part 2 of the Ben and Holly go to Planet Bong special) Ben and Holly and their friends go to Zyros' home planet, where they meet all manner of alien creatures and the Great Leader. Miss Cookie's class is out on a nature trail in the Little Kingdom! It is up to Ben and Holly to prevent the elves and fairies from being discovered by the big children and their teacher. Gloria Gnome (voiced by Judy Flynn) is Mr Gnome's "girlfriend". She was introduced in the episode, "Springtime". The twins want a pet, so Nanny Plum sets out to get them one. She magics them up Pippin the hamster. The Wise Old Elf brings Pippin a hamster wheel, but Pippin runs too fast in it and breaks out of the castle.

It's the twins' birthday party and chaos ensues when their little friends arrive. The Wise Old Elf tries to entertain them, but they prove too much of a handful, turning the Wise Old Elf into a mouse. Ben, Holly, and King Thistle decide to send Gaston to Miss Jolly's pet school and he meets his friends there. But soon, Gaston learns how good it is to be himself. Granny Thistle comes to visit and gives Daisy and Poppy a powerful magical wand. The twins escape from the castle and go bananas! King Thistle catches a cold, so Ben, Holly, and Nanny Plum collect the ingredients for a magic potion to make him heal sooner or later.King Thistle (voiced by Ian Puleston-Davies) is the King of the Little Kingdom and the husband of Queen Thistle. He is also Princess Holly, Daisy, and Poppy's father. He is often hungry and grumpy and sometimes hates having a bath though he can be quite a gentle, kind and loving father. He dislikes celebrating his birthday because it reminds him he is getting older. Three baby ladybirds, Amber, Emerald, and Keith, have come to stay at their uncle Gaston's for the day. The baby ladybirds are exhausting! So Ben and Holly help Gaston to keep them entertained. The elf tree is great for role play, acting out scenes from the little kingdom and is great fun to play with your child, teaching them about emotions, feelings and interacting. The figures are pretty sturdy but definately not for under 3s. Sturdy design and eye catching. Brilliant Daisy and Poppy borrow Fleur's magic wand, escape from the castle, and turn the whole kingdom into rabbits, frogs, and birds.

Nanny's magic license is out of date and, to get a new magic license, she must pass a test, set by the Wise Old Elf.Part 2 of the First Christmas Special) The elf airplane makes an emergency crash-landing en route to delivering the last batch of Christmas presents. Holly accidentally smashes the Queen's new teapot, and Ben tries to help her repair it, but it doesn't work. Holly and Nanny Plum join Ben at Elf School, where the Wise Old Elf tells them that strictly no magic should be used. All the Elf children are very good at building their toys. The team try to cheer up their friend Gaston by tidying his cave, but they do realize that he likes it the way it was. Holly Thistle (more commonly known as Princess Holly) (voiced by Sian Taylor) is an 8-year-old fairy, and one of the titular protagonists alongside her best friend, Ben Elf. She is a cheerful, tidy and clever princess who lives with her parents, King and Queen Thistle, her younger twin sisters, Daisy and Poppy and the royal family's nanny, Nanny Plum. She likes to use magic despite the risk of things going wrong, a reference to the great curiosity in young children. She likes playing with Ben Elf and there is a lot of platonic love between them.
