About this deal

David Mandel: I moved out to LA in ’95, and I went to work on Seinfeld. I think (we met) that year or later that year.

Now, will this comic sell? Unfortunately, I don’t have high hopes for that. Anthologies, even for the most major comic book characters, tend to be overlooked. Harley is also still too over-exposed, and I can see people ignoring this book. There’s also the problem of anthologies, in general, presenting inconsistent work. This comic might be great, but the next collection could be mediocre or even bad. However, I gotta say, if you love the GOOD versions of Harley and you’ve got money to spend, BUY THIS COMIC!

Pin this for later.

I’m sorry, but how stupid do people think women are? If you see a woman on the news who robbed a bank, but she starts preaching about how she broke up with her abusive boyfriend, you’re not gonna respond, “YAS SLAY QUEEN, DUMP HIM!” No, you’re gonna be thinking about what a terrible human being she is for stealing! To see Harley go off on a jewel heist, and then have the story shift into a narrative about personal growth and betterment while she’s still a lunatic criminal is just ludicrous. Harley Can’t Be a Role Model She continuously produces cover work for Marvel Comics, DC Comics and an assortment of independent titles. Wow, I owe Kelly Thompson a BIG apology! She got a lot of hate for including Harley in her upcoming Birds of Prey run, and I was with that dissenting opinion. However, I am so pleased to say that she writes Harley better than anyone I’ve read in years! One of the biggest problems, if not the biggest problem with Harley today, is that writers at DC have forgotten what her voice is supposed to sound like. They just write her as a generic, loud, gross, looney tune. Other writers attempt to do Harley’s traditional voice, but still make it a little too grating, and therefore, fail at the comedy. Kelly Thompson NAILS Harley’s traditional voice – the voice she’s supposed to have – perfectly! She also handles the comedy of the character well! Getting It All Right

Whether you're hoping to put together an elaborate costume or something simple and last-minute, then there's a Harley Quinn-inspired idea out there for you, and we've rounded up all the best. During an assignment for Crusade (‘Tomoe’) she and Jimmy Palmiotti became a real team as penciller/inker. It doesn’t matter if Harley isn’t with the Joker anymore; she’s still no paragon of growth and empowerment. The character continues to be a walking oxymoron as people try to portray her as a “bad girl” character and a feminist icon at the same time. As such, it doesn’t work. Noticeably, Harley’s storylines that have explored her independence in the past, like her first solo series, didn’t try to pass her off as a feminist character either. I guess we’re still trapped in the day and age where every female character needs to spread a good message to its audience. (We poor, foolish little women might not know how to be strong otherwise, don’t you know?) I’ll confess that despite my slight annoyance with Red Tool there were some parts of his story that literally made me laugh out loud. Like the bit where he tattooed his phone number on Harley’s butt. Priceless!

How to DIY Harley Quinn Makeup

I was very pleasantly surprised by this collection. The first sign of Red Tool was not impressive, but he managed to grow on me, especially when he (or Amanda Conner through him) perfectly encapsulated what it is that makes Harley such a fascinating character; all of her inconsistencies and hypocritical stances nailed down into one long but accurate description.
