Filmmakers love to exploit people's worst fears. Think about all the films made over the years about plane disasters, natural disasters, zombie outbreaks, airborne pathogens, serial killers, and any and everything else released in theaters or on DVD weekly. For some reason, we're all drawn to seeing what might happen in any of these situations and experience them from the outside looking in. "Cherry Tree Lane" gives us a "glass house" view of what many people would consider one of the most frightening horrors they could experience: the home invasion. Causes: The virus, Prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV), spreads through pollen, seed, and wood grafting. Wind and pollinators can spread infected pollen throughout an entire orchard. Treatment: Once brown rot infects your cherries, there are no curable treatments for the fruit. Prune any affected parts of the tree with sanitized pruning tools 4 to 6 inches below the sunken dead tissue. Burn or bury the pruned materials to prevent the infection from spreading.

As mentioned above, the film closes with Schofield resting against a tree. For the first time, he lets himself look at pictures of his beautiful young wife and children. He alluded to his family in the “bit of tin” scene, but got choked up before he could say more. “I hated going home… when I knew I had to leave and they might never see…” At the end of this line, Schofield’s voice trails off. The pain is too great for him, so he goes silent. Here is his mentality early in 1917: better to survive than despair. Causes: This fungal disease overwinters in dead cherry leaves on the ground. In early spring, apothecia (fruiting bodies) develop on the leaves and produce spores. Rainfall spreads these spores to healthy leaves where the spores germinate and penetrate the leaf.

Sissy claims she can do something similar to save Faith’s father, provided Faith agrees to bear a child for her first. Faith carefully considers the proposition over the course of a minute-long montage and agrees. What she doesn’t yet know is that the spawn in her stomach is to be sired by Satan himself. Season: Cytospora canker thrives in the summer when temperatures are above 90 degrees. Dead limbs girdled by cankers appear in mid to late summer. During her final confrontation with Sissy, Faith puts cherries in with the baby remains. This summons tree roots that surround Sissy and pull her under the ground. Faith leaves and successfully revives the baby underneath the cherry tree above. The acting was alright, the characters needed a little more developing. The home break-in terror was light compared to others in this genre. You might want to go watch "Mother's Day" or "Last House on the Left" again before seeing this one. Not really worth renting.

Thinning your fruit trees encourages airflow, allowing for a drier environment to deter the fungus. If brown rot is unmanageable and continues to infect your trees, consider using fungicides. The fungus releases a toxin, which then travels to the leaves and causes a silvery appearance. The epidermis (the surface layer) separating from the rest of the leaf blade causes the metallic sheen. This separation impacts the reflection of light. As the wood decays, the disease begins to develop the fungus-producing conks on the wood.Symptoms: This disease affects the cherry tree leaves, and may appear on leaf petioles and fruit pedicels. Small purple spots develop on the upper side of the leaf. These spots will enlarge to approximately 1/4-inch in diameter and turn a reddish-brown color. Pruning your cherry tree will encourage airflow and leaf dryness. If using fungicides as treatment, keep in mind that most fungicides are a preventive measure and do not cure the disease. A boring couple have their home invaded by some scumbags looking to exact revenge on their son. The usual tying up and degradation of the main characters takes place. The problem is I didn't care about them. The characters were so clichéd and one dimensional that I felt nothing for them.
