The spice in this book was extremely well done with characters who were into the BDSM life. The tension building is beautifully done and this book made it easy for me to say that I would like to read more from Meghan Quinn in the future. Royally Not Ready Book Review

Like, excuse me? And saying things like (and I quote), "I miss your greedy, warm c*nt," .....that is disgusting not sexy. He also kept pushing aside her feeling, like saying "You're not mad at me....You're just irritate." After she clearly said she was mad. And after being abducted and reunited he STILL didn't tell her truths over petty jealousy! I wish the ending gave us readers more time with Lilly and Keller, it did feel a bit rushed but over all I finished it with content and appreciated the wild royal ride Meghan took us on throughout this book. That's why I find myself in the throes of wedding planning, pre-wedding classes with my broody, over-protective fiancé, and counting down the days until we can finally say I do.Now I am huge fan of Meghan Quinn, everyone who knows me, knows this. However Royal Romances are really not my jam. So when Royally not ready landed on my e-reader I was curious to see if Meghan could change my mind. By the time I got to the end, I was extremely grateful that I didn't have to wait to read the next book because IT'S ALREADY OUT!! I grew to love this couple. I loved how they both changed for one another in subtle and not so subtle ways. Lilly, most noticeably, changes into someone fit for a crown and to be the head of a country. I also love a good grovel and Keller was very very good at it.

I think Royally Not Ready is a book I will relisten on Audio and see if the second listen ups my rating. The audiobook performances I thought were pretty good! Emma Wilder for me played Lilly well but I adored her portrayal of Lara I have to say, her accent work was fantastic. John Hartley was a new to me narrator and I did enjoy his performance too. Although the were a few things here and there that I found off putting about the audio. Mainly the absence of scene breaks within a chapter. As this was a duet narration, scene changes within the same chapter just didn't stand out enough and I found myself thinking huh what's happening now?After falling desperately in love, Keller and Lilly are heading to the altar. But wedding preparation and tradition comes with its own set of struggles, especially as a plot unravels aimed at keeping them apart and away from the throne. In future, I do request that you advise me of any potential plot points that may invoke similar feelings, so that I may preemptively book therapeutic appointments post-read. The tears, horniness and the way in which you hit a little too close to home could have been dealt with sooner if I’d had fair warning.

Keller and Lilly's chemistry and connection didn't feel like it was there like it was for the previous book until the last 20%. This took me far too long to get into, and I do put some of the blame on my previous book for leaving me with a hangover. It may have kept me from enjoying this more, but I'm not entirely sure. This isn't a typical MQ book making you laugh out loud and having so much fun, and I will still give her other books a try. Royally Not Read is a standalone rom-com by Meghan Quinn, told from both points of view with a happy ending.
