About this deal

No horror list is complete without at least one Stephen King novel. So here’s the King novel for you, zombie fans. You’ve probably heard that cell phone can give you cancer, but did you know that they can also turn you into a zombie? That’s the premise of King’s book. Mobile phones become the harbinger of technological warfare, wiping users’ brains and leaving them with nothing but aggression and desire for destruction. You know that one aunt you have that’s still so smug about not owning a cell phone? She’s going to love this book. plague of the dead by z.a. recht Monster Island, by David Wellington. First published online in serial format, this 2006 novel tells the tale of a zombie who has retained his human intelligence. Yes, I spent a lot of time on this project. And no, I didn’t have anything better to do on a rainy Saturday afternoon.)

Looking for a list of the best zombie books ever written? Me too! In fact, that’s what motivated me to create the list you’re reading right now. All right, zombie fans. That’s my list of the 25 best zombie books. I’m sure I’ve left off some of your favorites, so be sure to let me know what you would add to the list in the comments section. Is this another entry into the zom-rom-com genre? I think so! Sarah and David’s marriage is going through a bit of a rough patch. Will the zombie outbreak be enough to tear these two apart once and for all? Or will slaying the undead all day bring them closer together? Much like any rom-com, you’re probably pretty confident you know the answer to that question. But what’s most interesting about this novel is this couple’s journey, which is both hilarious and touching, again very much like a good romantic comedy. monster island by david wellington World War Z, by Max Brooks. Though it’s not for everyone, World War Z is one of the best zombie books of all time for the way it chronicles humanity’s (often flawed) response to the apocalypse. In Saulson’s imaginative novel, vampires and zombies are linked. When a person is infected but alive, s/he lives a vampiric existence; however, when that person dies, s/he becomes a zombie. Sera lives with the knowledge that death will mean becoming a zombie, but what’s worse is that she’s been pregnant for six hundred years, living in constant fear that her undead child will die inside her and become a zombie in-utero. And you thought your pregnancy was hard. cellby stephen king So, instead of creating my own list, I devised a kind of “master list” of best zombie novels based on popular opinion. Here’s how I went about it… Creating a ‘Master List’ of Undead Fiction This book is more of a thinker than a thriller, though it does have some gripping scenes spread throughout. It’s a thoughtful, contemplative exploration of what might really happen to the world if a zombie outbreak occurred. Rot & Ruin, by Jonathan Maberry. From Publishers Weekly: “The delineation between man and monster, survivor and victim is fiercely debated in Maberry’s thoughtful, postapocalyptic coming-of-age tale.”

Feed, by Mira Grant. The first in a series, Feed tells the story of two bloggers who unravel a political conspiracy involving the undead. I think fans of military-themed zombie apocalypse books will fully enjoy author Jonathan Maberry’s release. The plot centers on the legendary Joe Ledger, a hardened Baltimore detective, who joins a secret response team to stop terrorists. The mission: prevent the baddies from infecting people with a terrible bio-weapon that, essentially, turns them into zombies. For me, it was the quality of writing that set this book apart from so many others in the genre. Reapers has a literary quality to it, in addition to the typical brutality found within zombie novels. At the beginning of this book, Stony Mayhall is a zombie baby. Yes, you heard me. The Mayhalls discover Stony as an infant, undead in his dead teen mother’s arms, and Wanda Mayhall, the family matriarch, decides to take Stony home and raise him as one of her own rather than alerting the authorities. But what happens when Stony begins to grow and goes out into the world to find other undead people like himself? bruja born byZoraida Córdova Warm Bodies, by Isaac Marion. The book that inspired the movie, Warm Bodies tells the dark, heartwarming and often comedic tale of “R,” a zombie who falls for a human girl. This survival series starts off with Katie – a woman getting ready for her day in court – and Jenni, a housewife taking care of her family. However, hours later, both these women are flung together by a harrowing circumstance — namely, the apocalyptic rise of the undead. The two of them soon become a powerful zombie-slaying duo, journeying out to rescue Jenni’s stepson.
