In college, Dav met a teacher who encouraged him to illustrate and write. He won a national competition in 1986 and the prize was the publication of his first book, World War Won. He made many other books before being awarded the 1998 California Young Reader Medal for Dog Breath, which was published in 1994, and in 1997 he won the Caldecott Honor for The Paperboy. This is an excerpt of a comic written and drawn by George and Harold's older future selves, following a more mature graphic novel art style reminiscent of Scott Pilgrim. After George and Harold convince Mr. Krupp to investigate the strange lunch ladies, he discovers the truth about the lunchroom Evil Zombie Nerds. However, before he can do anything, one of the aliens snaps his tentacle. Captain Underpants then runs away screaming before trying to buy a cheeseburger at a local shoestore, implying that he found George and Harold's fight with Zorx, Klax, and Jennifer offensive (as indicated by the warning from the Incredibly Graphic Violence Chapter part 1).
