Description

Death-defying stunts, insane action set-pieces, and some of the best martial-arts choreography ever captured on film – In the Line of Duty IV is an unhinged Hong Kong action masterpiece and Eureka Classics is proud to present it in its UK debut on Blu-ray. note that In the Line of Duty didn't even crop up in any original title until the third film). Whether or not Eureka Entertainment have over the years have impressed with their vast collection of Martial Arts titles. That trend is about to continue in March with the release of the third and fourth instalments of In The Line Of Duty III and In The Line Of Duty IV. The story, as ever, is largely a framework to hang the action on, but this time it sees Khan as a relatively inexperienced cop who impresses her superiors by taking down a robber and is sent to the serious crimes squad, commanded by her uncle (Paul Chun), who doesn’t want her to be a cop. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a team of thieves led by by a couple (Stuart Ong as Nakamura and Michiko Nishiwaki who simply uses her real name for the character) takes down a jewellery show by a famous designer, killing many people in the process, including the partner of Policeman Hiroshi Fujioka (also using his real name in character). He comes to Hong Kong on their trail, and ends up teaming up with Khan to take the male and female thieves down. JJ Bona on So Close | Blu-ray (88 Films) The actually do both (one with, one without) on some of their US/UK releases.

To my eyes, Yes, Madam!is no different than the presentation on the Eureka UK Blu-ray release, therefore here’s my review from that one:

Summary

Cynthia Khan breaks out as a compelling action star taking the reins from Michelle Yeoh in this fast-pace third entry. In the Line of Duty III looks great and is one of the better sequels around. Highly recommended. Donnie Yen does, of course, steal a little focus. Credit to him and Yuen Woo-ping though, they both clearly know this is Khan’s movie, and give her a ton of hero moments. There’s no need to cut around anything for Yen, and that makes his action flow even better. The fight with Salvitti, and finale fights with Wong and Michael Woods (also in the first two Tiger Cage films, which shot either side of this one) stand out, as does what is essentially a jousting match shot on dirt bikes.

In the Line of Duty: I - IV Blu-ray offers solid video and great audio in this fan-pleasing Blu-ray release

Plot

David Chung Chi-Man’s Royal Warriors (aka In the line of Duty) stars Michelle Yeoh ( Boss Level), Sanada Hiroyuki ( Ringu), Michael Wong ( Triple Threat), Michael Chan Wai Man ( Bloody Brotherhood) and Kenneth Tsang ( Chasing the Dragon). Fortune Star used to release some upscaled SD masters on Blu-ray in the early 2010s, although their masters have greatly increased in quality since then. And this new 1080p AVC-encoded presentation is indicative of that growth, thankfully. This is a really nice and clean presentation, with film grain being a bit lighter than anticipated, although the levels change during optical effects and the title sequence.
