Do you remember the delightful Campino strawberries and cream candy that used to be a favorite treat in the UK? Many of us fondly reminisce about its sweet and creamy goodness. However, much to the dismay of fans across the nation, Campino candies have been discontinued in the UK. But fear not, for there is a glimmer of hope! We've discovered a new option that will surely satisfy your cravings - the Canadian version known as Creme Savers. In this blog, we'll take a trip down memory lane with Campino and explore the availability of Creme Savers in the UK. Campino, with its tempting blend of strawberries and cream, was a cherished candy enjoyed by both young and old in the UK. Its creamy center and fruity exterior created a taste that lingered on the palate, leaving us craving more. Many of us have fond memories of sharing these delightful sweets with friends, family, and even secretly sneaking a few during class or at work. Salt: Added in with our other dry ingredients, salt helps balance the flavors and sweetness. Don’t skip this ingredient! Freezing: Due to the high water content in fresh strawberries and the change in the texture of cream once frozen, freezing is not recommended. Top tips Assemble: Evenly distribute the sugared strawberries into serving bowls or glasses, then pour the cream over the strawberries. Garnish with a sprig of mint. Variations

Butter: You’ll need to beat the butter until it’s light and fluffy, so make sure your butter is softened to room temperature before beginning. To speed this process up, you can cut the butter into 1-inch pieces and place them in a small bowl until they’re softened to room temp. Never microwave, which more often than not gives you melted butter. Which we don’t want! Here's a great way to keep the chocolate melty while you're rolling your truffles: Make sure you melt the chocolate in a bowl that will fit inside a larger bowl. Fill the larger one up about a third of the way with hot water, then place the bowl with the chocolate inside so the bottom is covered. If you do this, test it out first to make sure you don't have so much water that it spills over.

Granulated Sugar - Helps enhance the natural sweetness of the dessert when tossed with strawberries. Prepare the strawberries: Remove the green stems from the strawberries and cut until they’re all roughly the same size. You may need to cut larger strawberries into quarters. If you have a double boiler this is a great way to melt chocolate chips and candy melts, but using the microwave is really handy as long as you're careful. Don’t skip either running an immersion blender through the strawberry mixture or straining it. You want the sauce to be silky smooth.

Heavy Cream - Creates a creamy taste and texture. Use double cream, whipping cream or half-and-half if preferred. In a jug, mix together the cream and vanilla seeds until well combined. Pour the mixture into the lolly moulds until it reaches halfway up the sides. Sometimes the best desserts are the ones that are the most simple and this recipe for strawberries and cream is just that. There’s no baking involved and it comes together in just minutes.

And then you get a delicious sweet treat that is perfect for enjoying or gifting to someone you love. Ingredients Creme Savers boast the same creamy center and fruity outer layer that made Campino so irresistible. The Canadian twist brings a delightful blend of nostalgia and novelty, promising to reignite the joy that Campino once brought us. The good news is that you can get your hands on these delightful candies without having to book a flight to Canada! This is cooled (completely!) and stirred along with butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract and sugar, chilled, and then rolled and covered in chocolate. I also added a single drop of pink food coloring because I wanted the color to be a bit more vibrant, though it will be a nice pale pink even without the added coloring.

If you want to make a different flavor entirely, use plain cream cheese and an extract of your choice. Lemon and orange would be delicious, as well as something more simple like vanilla or something a bit fancier like hazelnut. No matter how you make it, this easy dessert recipe will make a permanent spot on your rotation because of its classic simplicity and taste! There are so many options for different toppings that can change these truffles entirely! Dust with some powdered sugar, sprinkle with crushed walnuts or peanuts, or even grate on a little bit of lemon or orange zest for a citrus-y burst of flavor! Because I wanted that real, fresh strawberry flavor in these buttercreams I flavored them with only strawberries (and a dash of vanilla for some depth of flavor) and no artificial strawberry extracts. Strawberry extract can be tough to find. You can substitute another citrus-y extract if needed, as the strawberry cream cheese helps to keep the strawberry flavor.

Use an immersion blender or a sieve to remove the larger chunks of strawberry, then let the sauce cool. While Campino might have disappeared from the shelves of our local stores, there is a fantastic alternative that fans of the candy will undoubtedly appreciate. Enter Creme Savers, the Canadian version that offers a similar taste experience to our beloved Campino. Flour: All-purpose flour is what you’ll want to use here! I have never tried making these GF, but a 1 for 1 gluten free flour might work if you’re up for experimenting. For best results, measure your flour with a digital scale! Sure! While the dough doesn’t need to be chilled, it certainly can be. Instead of refrigerating the entire cookie bowl of cookie dough, my advice is to scoop and roll the cookie dough onto a large baking sheet, lightly cover with plastic wrap, and place in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake, up to 2 days. Once the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth, add half the chocolate mixture to the bottom of a parchment lined 9×9 pan.
