Before you begin, there are a few things that you will need to install your acrylic panel correctly. Take your tape measure and measure from the top rim of the bath down to the floor. This will tell you what height you need to fit your panel at. Bath panels are generally made using the same acrylic that the rest of your bathroom suite comprises of, however, there are some exceptions. Adjust the height of the plinth if your panel has one. Some bath panels, typically wooden ones, come with a "plinth," which is a plank that screws in along the bottom of the panel. It overlaps the main panel so you can move it up and down to adjust the height. Lay the plinth on the floor and then place the edge of the panel on top so they're overlapping. Move the panel up and down on the plinth until the height reaches the measurement you took for your opening. [5] X Research source Drill 2 wooden screws in at a 45-degree angle toward the floor at the bottom, going through the side and footing into the floor. Drill 2 shorter screws into the wood underneath the lip of the tub, also going at a 45-degree angle.

This is where you will install your supporting batten. You will need to use wood adhesive on the inside of the panel where the panel and the batten meet. Then you can fit your panel into place. To measure the height, run the tape measure from the top of the panel to the bottom of the plinth. Screw the panel into the plinth by placing screws every 1 foot (0.30 m) or so on both the top and bottom of the plinth. Using your tape measure and handsaw, measure the length of your bath and carefully cut your wooden batten so that they are the same length.

Mark where the panel will sit and then line your rebated wood/batten against it. The rebate should, thanks to its grooved edge, allow for the bottom lip of the panel to slot in. Then, you can secure your batten to the floor using your electric screwdriver and wood screws, ensuring not to screw the batten down too tight as the bottom lip of your panel will need to slide just under. Take extra care when you are doing this to ensure that the batten does not move out of place. Make sure that your wooden panel has a wooden plinth. This allows you to adjust the height of your panel if needed and also assists with any slanting. This can be fitted either behind the panel to add more depth. Or in front to create a “skirting” look.

Most standard baths come in a range of widths, 560, 700, 750, 800, 900, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900; Bathroom City offers all these widths in a number of different designs, simply filter using the selection box to the left of the products to choose bath side panels of your width. On some of the more expensive bathroom suites, bath panels are made out of wooden materials, but staining MDF in colours like oak and walnut is very popular. How to Choose the Correctly Sized Bath Panel Firstly, you’ll need to get your measurements, from the rim of the bath to the floor so you know the height you need the panel to be. If your tub is a unique shape, you may need to measure the length, too. Align your bath panel to the side of your bath, using the spirit level to ensure that the panel is perfectly straight from top to bottom. Depending on the type and position of the bath in your bathroom, you may have as many as three panels - one for each side that is exposed. Aside from hiding the underside of the tub, a bath panel will also cover piping and prevent water getting underneath, which can lead to mould. Using your pencil, make markings where the panel sits on the floor. This will be used as a guide for your wooden batten.
