Description

Woven wire panels are initially woven oversize and then trimmed to the correct size. Both the weaving and the trimming are done by hand in exactly the same way that they have been done for hundreds of years. Ideal for use in radiator covers, bookcase and cabinet doors inserts, custom ventilation, fine furniture and interior screening. Our group have been in the mesh industry for over 150 years. We are one of the UK’s most trusted mesh suppliers because: Plating and treatments such as chrome platingor antiquing are processes applied to the solid brass grille that increase price and manufacture timescales. The process of deciding which woven wire mesh style to choose, when faced with so many options can be daunting. That is why we have put considerable effort into taking high quality pictures and displaying them in an easily controllable interactive interface as close to the actual size as possible. Quite often the choice is simply an aesthetic one. Other factors may include how much of what is behind the woven mesh panel should be seen or not seen and this is often governed by the size of the hole or whether a combination of woven wire meshes are chosen to combine into one panel. A wire mesh with large holes and narrow wires will obviously have a higher percentage open area than a mesh panel with small holes and wide wires.

Aluminium is very light, is used to make aeroplanes and is best if painted or anodised to prevent tarnishing. We use manufacturing, polishing and patinating techniques that we have honed to perfection for over a century, alongside contemporary engineering technologies. Each opening should have a separate grille as rosette / rivet placement at the grille edge is dependent on grille size. (See Fixing below) Fine wire mesh is used in industry both to separate materials from each other and also to provide a safety barrier between humans and dangerous machinery. Metal is the most common material used to make fine wire mesh in the production of filters for the automotive industry, aviation industries and anywhere that might require the filtering of liquids or fine particles, particularly phosphor bronze and stainless steel meshes. Fine wire mesh can be made by a variety of means including weaving, perforating, knitting, etching and a process called expanding where small cuts are made into a sheet which is then pulled apart to open out the holes and create a larger mesh sheet. Electro forming is also used for fine wire mesh. Metal meshes made in all of these ways can be used just as well both to keep something in as they can to keep something out. A fine wire mesh could be used to prevent a microscopic particle suspended in a liquid from passing through with the rest of the liquid. A larger metal mesh could be used to keep an elephant in a cage. Finer wire mesh is used extensively in the oil refining and automotive industries. Fine wire mesh is ideal for filtering both air and liquids. Competitive prices: We are sure that our prices are always the lowest around. This makes us an attractive option for customers who are looking for a cost-effective solution. As well as in domestic cabinets and radiator covers, and library cupboards doors, round wire grilles were a popular choice for early automobile manufacturers. When the round wire is given an extra crimp between the joints it makes the overall panel more rigid and this made it particularly suitable for making stone guards for headlamps and car radiator screens as they allowed sufficient light and air through them whilst protecting that which was behind them from being chipped by stones thrown up from the road by other vehicles. We still manufacture grilles of this nature and sometimes it is the vintage and veteran car enthusiasts who choose to have similar vehicular style grilles in their houses. RADIATOR MESH OR RADIATOR GRILLE?

I just wanted to say thank you very much for sorting out those aviary panels for me. I erected the dog panel over the weekend and I'm delighted with the result." Brass fine mesh screen sheet is made from 0.263mm brass wire. This is top quality mesh that is especially suited to fine filtration and sieving.

Compared with copper mesh, brass mesh is cheaper and can save costs in electromagnetic shielding applications, but the effect is slightly inferior. Both have a wide range of applications in the field of filtration and screening. In addition, because the brass has a natural golden color, it is very popular as a decorative material in the architecture field. Copper is a popular decorative material for external use, being used for ventilation grilles both for its practical benefits and also because of the interesting way in which it tarnishes. When it is new it is a bright shiny orange/pink colour, as it ages it slowly darkens to a flat brown and if left for longer will adopt a patina called verdigris, which is bright turquoise in colour. This effect is often employed for decorative roofing purposes. The turquoise colour is a result of the slow reaction between the copper and the air resulting in copper carbonate. This was used by the ancient Greeks as a pigment in their artworks. Decorative screens and panels can be woven from copper and if used outside will become more striking as they age. Copper ventilation grilles are sometimes seen on historic buildings where they are set into stonework. Although there are an increasing number of uses for plastic, metal is still the number one material used for making meshes. Metal mesh is still the most durable and versatile type of mesh available. Due to the ductile and tensile strengths of metal it is still one of the most durable and therefore appropriate materials to be made into long thin strands, which are then called wires. The existence of metal wires makes woven metal mesh possible. Copper mesh is one of the more attractive types of fine mesh. Copper mesh can be made by knitting or weaving wires or cutting slots in a sheet and expanding, uses of copper mesh include electro magnetic shielding, filtration, pest management and for decorative purposes. Decoratively copper mesh is used in artworks and in lighting. This is a woven product that can move and flex, so absolute flatness should not be expected on large, fitted panels, without grilles attached to the fronts, to which they are held at regular frequencies across the panelCut to Size) and Expanded Steel Grilles Natural brass, antique brass and stainless steel woven wire mesh and powder Wire woven from fine brass requires gentle care to maintain its appearance and integrity. The following steps can be taken to maintain fine brass woven wire: If you cannot see your desired Regency grille above, you can specify your preference using the following notation: Dimensions note:Please note that this is item not advertised as a precision scientific mesh but as a decorative mesh. Sizes are as best measured and should be therefore considered approximate. The oldest type of decorative grille is the woven style achieved by first taking a straight wire from a long coil and putting small dents in it that distort the metal permanently one way, then the other, alternating along its length. This stage is called 'crimping' and changes the shape of the wire from flat to a permanently wavy zigzag.

If folded the mesh will form a crease that remembers and retains the fold line. This can be very difficult to remove so should be avoided unless intended permanently. Unless otherwise specified, it is assumed that all grilles are to be viewed from the front only and will not, therefore, receive the same standard of finishing on their reverse faces. If your grille will be regularly viewed from the rear as well and you would like us to finish it to a similar standard as the front, please specify this in the notes. Additional charges will apply. This is especially important with antique and bronzed finishes. The majority of woven wire meshes are now woven on large industrial scale machines and very few are woven by hand. We have both the technology and skill to offer both types and will make recommendations as to which type is the most appropriate depending on the project in mind. Typically, woven wire mesh required for industrial purposes will be machine made along with the very fine mesh, whilst mesh woven especially for interior decoration would be more likely to benefit from the extra personal attention of hand weaving. Hand woven mesh has the advantage over other types of mesh of giving a more traditional feel to a room decor.Radiator covers and cabinets are one of the most popular uses for decorative grilles. When used for this purpose the panels of mesh themselves are often referred to as radiator grilles or radiator cover meshes. The Mesh Company has an enormous range of woven wire mesh products. We truly are an industry leader among suppliers of weld mesh and woven wire materials. With the capabilities we have in-house, we can provide virtually anything you require. Internally a wider variety of metals and finishes are suitable for making. Brass grilles can be polished, lacquered, patinated or plated, as can bronze, aluminium, steel and stainless steel. These metals can also be made to look similar to each other through these processes. For indoor purposes ventilation grilles can be placed on almost any interior surface provided there is some opportunity behind it to attach the duct that will enable the transfer of air. Ventilation grilles can be placed in walls, floors, ceilings, staircases, skirting boards, cornices, plinths, fireplaces, bay windows, in-built in furniture and many other places within the home. In some places the vent grilles may be used for a slightly different purpose such as in fireplaces where they would be used to allow a greater flow of air directly and specifically to the hearth itself. Vent grilles are also used to transfer air between rooms. Where vent grilles are used in air conditioning they are often referred to as supply and return grilles referring to whether they are covering the section of ducting where air is either drawn in or expelled. James Gilberts grilles are made for all these purposes and indeed most of our grilles are interchangeable to suit a wide variety of situations.
