EASYJoint is perfect for patios, paving and paths that only have pedestrian foot traffic, however will not withstand the weight of a car or larger van. We do not recommend EASYJoint for use on driveways due to the types of sub-base and bedding mortar needed. Should I seal my paving slabs before using EASYJoint brush-in patio grout? Sand is heavier than water and when it is in the joint it will stay there unless you have a torrent of water coming off of a roof that by sheer force is pounding it out of the joint.

Instructions and Precautions for Pedestrian Paving Areas

The result of using EASYJoint, to joint your paving, will be a paving gap that is completely filled that will last for years. A strong joint that will resist the elements and stand the test of time – better than traditional jointing methods

Both the bedding and sub-base must be permeable. When using a mortar bedding mix, this should be no stronger than 6:1 (sharp sand: cement). Be careful when using add-mixtures such as SBR or PVA as these can seriously affect the permeability of a mortar mix. Typically, it will last 10 years, but this also depends on the installation process and the usual harsh environmental impact.

Prolonged periods of rain, or several intermittent showers will considerably extend the setting times. Again, this will not affect the final integrity of the product in any way provided water can drain easily away and so allow even curing throughout the joints (as previously explained) Why use EASYJoint? Top Up. Use more EASYJoint to top up any low areas, repeating the washing process as described previously. To achieve this, assuming a permeable sub-base, where a mortar bedding is used it should be no stronger than 6 parts sand to 1 part cement (6:1). This will ensure good drainage and is perfectly adequate for pedestrian areas. If water is retained in the joint for long periods, rather than passing through, the joint may fail.
