Keeping your beloved instrument clean is incredibly important. Many players would shudder if they realised just how dirty their guitars can get. From sweat and dead skin to the horrendous finger jam that builds up on the fretboard, they all have an effect on the playability and appearance of your guitar.

Solutions with a sponge – There are solutions that will have a sponge attached to them. In that case, apply the solution using that sponge to the strings. Slide the sponge applied to your guitar strings by going up and down a few times. All the claims that it has are pretty much made-up stuff. Does it clean your strings? Is it maybe just because you have rubbed your guitar strings and entire fretboard with mineral oil then you need to remove the excess oil, naturally you will be cleaning the gunk on your strings. It's definitely not worth it at all. Apart from being extremely expensive, this is not how you should care for your guitars and guitar strings. To be honest, I find it very successful as they have been able to sell tens of thousands of this product. There are natural essential oils that you can toss into your salad and still survive! Note that these are for your fingerboards! But if you ever thought rubbing mineral oil to your strings and the fingerboard is fine, you can do the same with these essential oils.

This handy toolkit provides you with everything you need to carry out a restring and make any necessary tweaks to your action. There’s a decent set of string cutters that will be strong enough to use on a bass guitar, if you need to, as well as a comprehensive set of Allen keys – whatever you need to adjust, chances are, one of these is going to fit perfectly. You’ve also got a 6-in-1 screwdriver, string height gauge and string winder. All of these tools should be enough for guitar set ups and regular maintenance duties. Also know, can I use fast fret on coated strings? FastFret is just mineral oil. I use it with uncoated strings just to help preserve them. I wouldn’t expect that it should have any effect on the string coating, but if Elixir say no, I’d go along with that. If he has a maple-board electric he shouldn’t use Fast Frets no matter what strings! Then, can you boil guitar strings to clean them? You might think that if your guitar isn’t broken, then there’s nothing that needs doing. However, over time, the strings on your guitar do gather dead skin and dirt from your fingers, and your guitar – which is primarily made of wood and metal, will shift slightly with changes in temperature and humidity. This is where the best guitar cleaning kits and maintenance products come in. Needless to say, we recommend keeping a clean, dry microfiber cloth handy in your guitar case or gig bag, so you can wipe down your axe after every use. We'd also suggest investing in some quality polish and fretboard cleaner as well. You should also invest some money in buying specialized cleaning tools to keep your strings and fingerboard in great shape.

I have tried both, Olive Oil works as well That one guy I referenced is not the only one to say that. All fast fret is, is mineral oil. Nothing whatever special about it. Just not necessary, that is my point. For those reading, if you research, you will find you have something that works just as well or better in your kitchen. Olive oil is unique among oils, has the properties that make it work perfectly for this purpose. Pay for official mineral oil, or use unofficial olive oil (I think is works better, easier to apply, and have tired both). I'm done. Remove extra solutions from the strings– Take your cloth off and flip it to the other side where it is still dry and doesn’t have any solution to it. Of course, it would be better to keep another dry cloth for this process. wrap the cloth around your strings like mentioned in step number two and slide the cloth across the guitar as mentioned in point number three. When looking at the best guitar cleaning kits and maintenance products, ask yourself what exactly it is you want to do. If you’re playing guitar fairly infrequently, then you might just want to grab something that keeps the strings feeling fresh, so that you don’t have to change them as much. The applicator contains a few grams of mineral oil at max. I think it's even less. That white/yellow applicator part weighs around 8g with mineral oil included. This really does what it says on the tin – it’s a complete kit for when you want to set up your guitars. It’s got everything you’ll need to tweak the action, adjust the intonation, replace the strings – even tools that will reach all those annoying, hard to reach nuts and screws.

Not a spray! Contains no silicone. Apply to your strings and fingerboard to remove built up dirt and grime. Fast Fret keeps the strings sounding bright and new, extending the healthy lifetime of any strings. You should keep a cloth to wipe down the strings after you are done with your jamming session. It will prolong the life of the strings. Okay, we get it. The thought of tinkering with your beloved guitar can be intimidating, but don't worry. We aren't suggesting full-scale repairs, fret jobs or advanced electrical work. We're merely proposing you show your pride and joy a little TLC. What we mean by that is regularly cleaning the body and fingerboard to remove grime, routinely changing the strings and tweaking the action when necessary. Of course, to do this successfully, you're going to need the correct tools - and that's where this guide comes in.It's worth noting that certain guitar finishes do require specialist polishes, so it's best to do your research to ensure your axe comes up gleaming rather than causing any damage to your shiny guitar.
