We try to reduce buying new things as much as possible, so fixing what we already have is a big part of what we do at Green & Away. This role would be perfect for someone wanting to practise their repair skills, or develop their woodworking and upcycling skills. As Sustainability and Education intern you will undertake tasks dedicated to sustainability strategy and education management during the season. This role will involve research, assessment and presentation of Green & Away’s sustainable practices, such as analysing our food procurement and measuring our carbon footprint. You will also be responsible for arranging workshops and talks for volunteers as part of our weekly Education Afternoons through a varied education programme, assisted by the trustees.

Phytoplankton are small. Really small. In fact, you cannot see them with your naked eye. To view individual phytoplankton, you need a microscope… There may be a build-up of sludge because of the dead algae this can cause a drop in oxygen levels which can cause problems therefore treating with Blagdon Sludge Buster after a course of treatment will prevent this. I would also add that in a rush to get rid of their green water, beginners tend to overdose with these chemical products. And this causes more problems than it solves.

Overall, producers grow and transport potatoes carefully to keep solanine levels low. If you discard the green parts of the potato and do not eat bitter-tasting potatoes, you are unlikely to become ill ( 4). Summary Glycoalkaloids are the main toxins that potatoes produce. Solanine is a type of glycoalkaloid ( 3). When exposure to light causes potatoes to produce chlorophyll, it can also encourage the production of certain compounds that protect against damage from insects, bacteria, or fungi ( 2). Even with safeguards in place, potatoes can develop high levels of solanine if they’ve been stored improperly or damaged. Blagdon Green Away is specifically manufactured by experts at Blagdon and is designed to remove unsightly suspended unicellular algae which results in "pea soup" pond water. Green Away works by clumping the algae together and turning it in to a particle large enough for the filter to remove. The innovative solution will come in handy particularly during the warmer months of the year ,where exposure to sunlight can accelerate this type of algae in pond water.Effective against blanketweed/string algae, consumes sludge, makes tap water safe and feeds aquatic plants. It is important that we started well. In these cup ties you have to try and impose yourself on it, especially as a higher-league team against a lower-league team. And the boys, they were up for it. Dosing a planted tank is a balancing act. The right amount of nutrients keep your plants happy and looking their best. But too much of one nutrient and not enough of another is all it takes to throw your tank into chaos. But it’s not just for budding chefs! According to the Missouri Poison Center, solanine exposure is low risk. Even after consuming enough solanine to develop symptoms, most people recover well at home ( 5, 6). Essential Green Away’s unique formula is safe to use and fully biodegradable, therefore, you can use it annually for complete protection. When any green growth and algae appear during the year on any external surface, just treat locally. You do not need to retreat the whole area. HOW TO APPLY: Pond Balance, is an extremely effective solution for filamentous algae, more commonly known as blanket weed. The product works by making calcium unavailable for use in cell structured growth. The net effect of this is that over the thirty days of the treatment, the blanket weed is literally starved out of existence, initially becoming weaker, falling apart and eventually disintegrating completely.

The problem is that what I keep in my tank will be very different to what you keep in yours. With such a wide variety of plants, fish, critters, not to mention different aquarium equipment, you just don’t know how these products will affect your tank. Because of this, the two can be identified by taking a sample of water from your aquarium. If it’s clear, you likely have green dust algae. If it’s a cloudy green color, then it’s probably the algae commonly referred to as green aquarium water. The general consensus among the aquarium community is that there are three main causes of green water algae. Staying on top of these causes will go a long way toward preventing green aquarium water. 1. Too much light

So by using too much (or in some cases too little) of a nutrient, you could be accidentally encouraging your water to turn green. But it’s not just your aquarium lighting that could be responsible for your green water problem. Sunlight could also be the cause.
