About this deal

I will say that the rotary interface here doesn’t quite suit me. The switch seems to be some weird combination of rotary and “speed sensing switch” (there’s a real name for it I’m sure). If you rotate the dial very slowly, either nothing will happen, or you’ll rotate the switch nearly all the way around for onechange in level. In other words, the levels are not specific places on the dial. You rotate until the level changes. The rotary rotates freely; there are no stop points here (that is, it’s not like the rotary on the Olight Olantern Classic 2 Pro, for example. In normal use this is fine, but if you’re trying to dial in specifically to level 4 or whatever, it can be frustrating. The Olight Marauder Mini is a miniature version of the popular Marauder 2, with a more compact body yet still offering a powerful output of 7000 lumens at Level 7 in floodlight mode, which will have a timed downshift of 2 minutes to prevent the LED from overheating. The light does shut off with low voltage protection, and the stepdowns seem to approximate what Olight’s manual claims. Charging Also above is the light beside my custom engraved TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats.

Primarily you’ll be carrying this light by means of the lanyard, which attaches through this “coin slot loop.” Following the Marauder 2's lens design and composed of 9 LEDs surrounding the center, it enables sevenbrightness levels that provide 200-7000 lumens. A large round LED has been added to the center, offering a 600-meter spotlight beam.A built-in thermal sensor and cooling fins ensure safety in case of overheating and lens obstruction. A fantastic torch for outdoor ventures, hunting, search and rescue, marine navigation, and much more. Three RGB color LEDs are uniformly distributed around the converging lens, making it suitable for use on any occasion.New from Olight is a Mini version of the Marauder Mini flashlight! It offers the same great rotary interface along with red, green, and blue! I also tested cooling, and the drop clearly shows a different between non-cooled vs cooled. Have a look at the L7 runtime below: Olight Marauder 2 alternatives High power flashlight competitors Note: The above data is measured in lab conditions, therefore results may vary due to environmental and heat dissipation conditions. The active thermal management system will decrease the output in Level 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3 in flood, Level 7, 6, 5 and 4 in spot and Level 4 & 3 in RGB to protect the LEDs from overheating. Some people complained about the rectangular beam, and it’s probably because they aren’t used to it. I think our perception of a beam is usually round. It’s not like the imperfect beam of most zoomable/focusable flashlights. The LED for throw is in the center behind a convex shaped lens. The outer ring of LEDs are in the outer ring behind TIR optics. In the flood setting, the beam is really wide and smooth. I don’t really know what kind of LEDs they are.

I can’t wait to talk about this flashlight. If you’re impressed with anything build by Lumintop, Fenix, Acebeam and the like, you will definitely be impressed with this one. This charger is a “charge base” style item, which connects to USB power on one end and magnetically to the (or “a”) flashlight. Olight has a ton of lights using this same connection, so if you’re already in, this won’t be a problem. For Spotlight lumens, I used the integrating sphere for this. My measurements were quite a bit higher than the specifications. Marauder 2 Spot: Levels Unlike the Marauder 2, the Marauder Mini uses the signature magnetic charging system and also has a removable battery. The customised 6500 mAh 32650 lithium-ion battery is recharged inside the torch using the included MCC3 magnetic charging cable. Simply connect the magnet to the base of the torch and plug the USB end into a suitable USB adaptor (5 V 2 A recommended for fastest charging). The indicator light on the magnet will go red while charging is in progress and turn green once charging is complete after approximately 5 hours if the power supply is sufficient enough to support the 2 A output, otherwise the cable will output at a lower rate or 1 A or 1.5 A depending on the power supply.

Measurement disclaimer: Testing flashlights is my hobby. I use hobbyist-level equipment for testing, including some I made myself. Try not to get buried in the details of manufacturer specifications versus measurements recorded here; A certain amount of difference (say, 10 or 15%) is perfectly reasonable. What’s Included Dual-beam with Spot and Flood: An array of LEDs offers two powerful beam choices: a 600-meter max throw from the central LED’s spotlight beam or a 7,000-lumen max output floodlight beam from the 9 surrounding LEDs. Olight includes a nice stretchy holster for the Marauder Mini. It fits in one direction and the light shouldn’t be used while inside. Because I did so many runtimes, I also did a bunch of charge tests, too. The charging indicator on the charge base is red while charging and green when charging is complete. It’s noteworthy that the indicator turns green WAY before the termination I’m displaying below. The cell seems to keep charging after the indicator turns green, so I just let it. In every test, the final voltage was 4.17V, so it doesn’t seem to be overcharging.
