Description

A comedy drama coming of age series set in the 80s about a few friends who work at a rich country club is the best way to describe this. Every character is so likeable, there’s plenty of jokes and quotes running throughout the show, it’s brilliant.

All 3 series are on BBC iPlayer in the UK (HULU in USA), and with each episode lasting 30 minutes, it’s easy to binge watch.Ballers made it’s final ever season in 2019, it will be missed. But the good news is that there’s a massive 5 seasons to re-watch, that’s 47 episodes.

If you’re into a crime drama, Gangs Of London is definitely the one to watch this year. It premiered on SKY Atlantic in April 2020, with the second season being available in October 2022. If you like shows such as Girls, The Bold Type or Derry Girls, you’re likely to love Shrill. It kind of reminds me of Girls the most. It a comedy which centres around a girl called Annie, who is a young woman making her way through life as an overweight girl. It’s a lot more than basketball, with a lot of the show about the owners, and the struggles of players and all the staff within the team. It’s a brilliant watch. The way this is shot is so unique and brilliant. Each episode is based on 1 day of the summer, but in all 3 different years. We see the whole summer unfold and find out exactly what is going on.The show is a coming of age kind of series, set around high school kids discovering themselves. It’s very hard hitting and edgy, and is all about drugs, sexuality, sex and the other dramas which circulate around old teens in the modern day. You might be thinking why would you want to watch a tv series about fishing? It’s because it’s brilliant, and not much about fishing! I watched the first series absolutely loved it, so watching the second series was a necessity. The show centres around 4 girls from Derry, Erin, Michelle, Orla and Clare, as well as Michelle’s cousin from England, James. It’s kind of like a modern day Sex in the City mashed up with Friends. One for millennials that love a good coming of age show.

You can watch drama and thrillers, as well as the lighter side such as comedy and romance. I have also watched a ton of sports programmes which are epic, and I’ll feature those too. If you like a bit of a laugh, comedy, men, cars and travel, you’ll like this. It’s not really a car show, so you don’t need to worry about having a huge interest in cars, although you may enjoy it more. Disney dripped the episodes out to 1 per week which meant that you couldn’t binge watch the entire thing, but once all 8 episodes of the series have been aired after March you’ll be able to watch them all at your leisure. Whether it’s a brand new TV series starting in 2023 or it’s something you’ve loved in the past and want to binge watch, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to TV this year.Bobby Axelrod (Damien Lewis) left after season 5, with a new enemy of his, Michael Prince taking over Axe Capital. Season 6 was a strange one with Axe not being in it, but it was still been a good season with Michael Prince assuming the role of bad guy billionaire. It centres around the Wallace family who have a focus on crime, as well as their partners and rival gangs. There is twists and turns in the story, and it keeps you gripped. Channel 4 has had some epic shows and box sets over the years, and you can catch up on them all with their All 4 platform. Whether you like something which is currently shown on Channel 4 or E4, or you want some nostalgia, you can binge watch so much. Derry Girls Series 4 currently has 3 episodes which are specials. The first being “The Grand Tour: Seamen” and the latest being released almost a year later, “A Massive Hunt” which was set in Réunion and Madagascar. The 3rd in the chapter is Carnage A Trois which was released in December 2021. Most of the show centres around Erin and her family including her ma Mary, Aunt and mother of Orla, Sarah, Da Gerry and Granda Joe. There’s a lot of school life too, at Our Lady Immaculate College (a catholic school) and sister Michael.

I won’t put in any more spoilers, but it’s been a brilliant watch and definitely binge-worthy. The only bad thing is the spelling of “Honour” which is spelled Honor (since it’s an American show). This is The Grand Tour/Top Gear but in a farm instead of a car. Oh and there’s a few sheep too. and now cows! The first series was set during the pandemic, with the 2nd series brand new for 2023. The good thing is that now all the shows have aired, you can binge watch this one, so it comes down to how much time you want to spend on watching the show in a day. A similar sounding story with the geek and the popular girl, but it gets dark. Kate goes missing and it appears that Jeanette takes over her life. It’s a brilliant show, and if you haven’t already seen it, you should catch up starting from the beginning. It’s a bit of a slow burner, but you’ll be glad you invested your time. I couldn’t finish the list without some nostalgia, and it’s the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air. It’s now showing on SKY Comedy and BBC iPlayer, and you can binge watch everything! Adapted from the PlayStation game of the same name, this is a really gripping show that you can get into and watch one after the other to see what happens. If you’ve ever been fascinated in Japan and travel, this is for you. I enjoy most of the shows James May does, and Our Man In Japan is another good one.
