While investigating the disappearance of ships around a planet which looks like a desert but shows a significant amount of technology, the team ends up stranded along with all the people who crashed there with Flynn (voiced by Mark Hamill) as their leader, but on detailed inspection they realize that the Shriekers that caused the crash only wanted to trap people and mystery follows. Santa Claus (voiced by Earl Boen) is the holiday figure, who delivers presents to all the good people in the galaxy during the Holiday. He previously used a sleigh powered by belief and later time manipulation to accomplish this massive task. After a series of high tech robberies the team decides to put XR as bait to lure the robber who turns out to be a previous experimental robotic ranger XL (voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait). Zurg fuses a device that allows Torque to clone himself, and the criminal uses his new posse to wreak havoc in the space lanes. After team Lightyear manages to undo their trouble, they and other Space Rangers bring in Torque and his clones.At the landfill, they toys are pushed onto a conveyor belt. Buzz and Woody rescue Lotso from a shredder and help him reach an emergency stop button. Lotso abandons them, however, and they fall into an incinerator. Buzz and Jessie join hands and face the approaching fire, prompting everyone else to do the same. The three toy aliens operating a claw rescue them, and they make their way home. Andy donates them all to a little girl Woody met at the daycare, Bonnie. When introducing Buzz, Andy describes him as "the coolest toy ever". As the toys settle in at Bonnie's house, Buzz finds himself performing a romantic rumba with Jessie to the Spanish version of "You've Got a Friend in Me" as the film ends; much to the amusement of the other toys. To succeed in their latest mission, Mira uses her ghosting powers to walk into a Crystallic Fusion Generator. She emerges as a glowing, hyper-active ranger. Despite her father's warnings on how dangerous this new power is, Mira begins using her new powers to the extreme, eventually falling into the temptation of taking on Zurg by herself. In the episode "42" Buzz admits to Booster that he didn't lie to Commander Nebula by stating that he only told a cover story

Booster and XR take Torque to prison planetoid PC-7, but Torque engineers a jailbreak with the help of a personality changing helmet. Plasma Boy (voiced by Michael Showalter) is Petra's boyfriend, who has a Plasma Monster form. Booster competed against him for Petra's affection. When Mira and XR fired a laser at his Plasma Monster form, he destabilized enough to the brink of explosion. He was prevented from explosion when Booster used his suit and Ion Stabilization Matrix on him. He's now a member of Star Command.

Commander Nebula (voiced by Adam Carolla) is the Space Rangers' commander and Buzz's superior, whose left leg was replaced by a pegleg-like plasma cannon. Rather short-tempered and constantly speaks with a loud voice. He has a robotic desk that forces him to do his paperwork. He hates to do so, though, and therefore signs forms without looking at them. By doing so, he inadvertently authorized the creation of XR, which was included on a vacation request form filled by the LGMs.
