The film's short length is never an issue except for in the last scene, which certainly works in achieving poignancy, but feels as though it could be granted a few extra minutes in which to resolve. Nevertheless, that complaint is minor in light of everything else about the movie that goes right. Its brevity and simplicity mean that it often gets overshadowed by the studio titans that surround it, but its strong emotional appeal and sensible execution have ensured its enduring legacy.
