About this deal

In the mouth: Comparatively young tasting, with the most overt wood influence of the trio. There’s a hint of turmeric before the middle of the palate is dominated again by the smoky caramelized sugar flavor of campfire marshmallows. This transitions to the finish, which lingers moderately with some spicy wood accents, but is the least pronounced of the three. Conclusion On the nose: Starts with a strikingly malty aroma. More lime juice, as well as stewed stone fruit, chalk, orange marmalade, and yellow sandwich mustard. The wood here is better integrated and more balanced than the 15 year old. Overall A great intro to NAS, Cask Strength and Glenfarclas. I can safely say this 105 from Glenfarclas still sets and maintains a high standard. For a family-owned business like Glenfarclas it makes sense for them to do this right and keep doing it right. A great value-for-money, cask strength sherried, quality introductory dram from Glenfarclas. This is a complex and elegant whisky. Sweet dried fruit, vanilla cream, cinnamon, baking spices and a drying oak all dance together. The flavors and smells are rich and warm, owing to the high strength. Its flavor profile is best suited to a cold winter night. Being Jewish i cannot confirm whether it tastes like christmas but many people say it does. The sherry really peaks through here in a way that makes me think of all the great, old, Glenfarclas I’ve enjoyed. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength is somewhat of an oddity in the distillery’s currentrange. It is the only one which doesn’t presently carry an age-statement (however the Internet suggests that it is at least 8 year old). Similarly to fellow cask strength sherried heavy weight Aberlour A’bunadh, as a vatting of casks there are reports of batch variance for time to time, but that’s the nature of the beast when it comes to vattings. It’s bottled at a hefty 60% ABV is naturally coloured, and although not specified, I am presuming is probably non chill-filtered.You think “Sherry Bomb” and concrete examples come to mind. Macallan releases, Abelour A’bunadh batch releases, Glengoyne tea pot dram and Glendronach 15 and 18 year old expressions. Some cask strength whiskies, some not. A mixture of different sherry cask maturations from Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, Palo Cortado, Fino… the list is quite varied. Uniquely, they do offer a broad range of flavours when maturing whisky.

Glenfarclas 105 Review - The Dramble Glenfarclas 105 Review - The Dramble

Glenfarclas describe their whisky as ‘Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky’ which might confuse some when they learn that the distillery is actually located in Ballindalloch in Speyside – traditionally the Highland region embraced what is now delineated as Speyside and, deep-down, Glenfarclas is still a very traditional distillery. These old time values still have some modern day benefit for whisky lovers - Glenfarclas bottings present unfussy low-key branding which eschew the current trend for marketing-driven label twaddle. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. What more can you ask for : single malt at 60%+ sherry cask maturation not finishing + very affordable 1L bottle, can't go wrong with 105. Finish: Amazingly smooth for the strength, wonderful warming with a lingering spiciness, yet very rounded. Fruity, nutty, sherried profile. What’s not to like about this? Some might say the proof (120), but that’s easily fixed with a splash of water if it’s too much. Others might say the price, but then all whisky is expensive these days, and it’s only getting more so. So I ask again… what’s not to like?A dash of this whisky can be great in baking, compote, and desserts. Its sweetness and strength work well there.

Glenfarclas Bottler Distillery Bottling Bottled 2018 Stated Age 22 years old Casktype Sherry Casks Number of bottles 3600 Strength 60.0 % Vol. Size 700 ml Label Celebrating 50 Years of 105 Barcode 5018066180050 Added on 08 jul 2018 12:31 pm by ctu I am not privy to the 105 recipe but I doubt the part with the bourbon casks. Not to say that there are no bourbon casks at Glenfarclas distillery but the overwhelming part is sherry casks there. Why? Much easier to find casks at a higher alcoholic strength that can be brought down to 60% abv than in the 10 year old range. From the first nosing until the long lingering aftertaste, each of the notes will present then withdraw, in evolving combinations. To me, this bottle, 1 peaty island scotch, and 1 good bourbon can really constitute a solid "collection". Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. Nice review. I, too, like the 21 year old quite a lot, and the 30 even more, though it’s a rather painful step up in price. Interestingly, the photos you show here indicate that the 25 year old bottling was pre-2009; the other two following the required labelling changes of SWR 2009. I’m sure that affects what’s in the bottle, though it’s unclear if these were the actual bottles from which your review arose. Tasted this sherry monster again and had a chance to really revisit it. It’s been a while since I first tasted Glenfarclas 105 and I’ve learned to drink cask strength versions since then.
