Description

The nearest star (other than our Sun) thought to have a habitable planet is Tau Ceti, 11.9 light-years from Earth, so traveling at light speed you would need 11.9 years to reach it. If there are any habitable planets closer than that, they can’t be much closer. Right. In some ways, it could be seen as a badge of honor of sorts, that some viewers have taken this movie seriously enough to even worry about whether or not parts of its science are correct. But do you think people getting upset about the film’s scientific basis are missing the point? Much has been written about how much effort was put into making the movie scientifically accurate and to the credit of the writers and directors, much of the science is accurately presented. However, some parts of the movie don’t seem realistic. For example, Cooper, the main character, is a retired astronaut who is now a farmer in the Midwest. Something has happened to the earth so that almost all types of food crops have failed. Growing corn to feed the nation (world) is the primary focus of just about everyone. Governments, apparently, don’t exist to any real degree and there are hints that population explosions have placed so much strain on the food supply that nuclear war was employed to reduce world population.

This movie is about Miracles & Dreams, not of Science. And, to drive it home, religious hints litter the movie, as pointed out with the Lazarus missions above. The Science of Interstellar by Kip S. Thorne, Christopher J. Nolan (Foreword)". goodreads.com . Retrieved 2015-02-21. This highlights, I think, just how much gnarly number crunching you’ve done for this film, whether you’re brainstorming ideas or reverse engineering plot points. Was this a frustrating process for you at all?you stand there outside time , observe the immensity of the universe and how its too vast and indifferent to the dreams and the delusions of man . Interstellar is a film that fills me with so many conflicting emotions. On one hand, the film evokes so eloquently the human drive for survival as captured by the Dylan Thomas poem Professor Brand quotes; it says to never give up. When death comes, rage and fight with everything you have. But, on the other hand, the idea of pouring vast amounts of money into space exploration rather than looking for a viable solution on Earth makes me cringe. We thus have Cooper in a double role, as a Christ figure who brings God’s message to a Prophet, and also as an Apostle-Prime, who alone has experienced divinity, who is convinced that the miracles are being performed by The Children of Men. That men will become Gods one day, capable of miracles. Get it? The Bulk-beings, the 5-Dimensional Gods are nothing but the Children of Men, conceived immaculately through a Technology-Mary) In this book, it's explained as accessible as possible for the general audience (but still is really deep to digest), astronomical aspects, spatial phenomena and advanced technology that arise during the film's plot of "Interstellar". this bewilderment I got reading or watching or whatever feels like pouring glitter on one's heart , i am walking around stardust hazing my sight , i mean , how am I going to deal with this shinny mess ?!

With that in mind, I bought this because there were explanations and descriptions that did a better job helping me grasp what I had seen on the screen. There is a lot of density in this film, and a lot of details that most viewers will either not even notice or perhaps will not understand. The science behind the film is all within the realm of the possible, but some liberties had to be taken for the sake of the story. Thorne, Kip S (2014). The Science of Interstellar. Foreword by Christopher Nolan. W. W. Norton & Company. ISBN 9780393351378. OCLC 891611098. As Kip says, If Chris had followed the dictates of Einstein’s laws, it would have spoiled his movie. So Chris consciously invoked artistic license at some points. Although I’m a scientist and aspire to science accuracy in science fiction, I can’t blame Chris at all. I would have done the same, had I been making the decision. And you’d have thanked me for it.My world," he said softly. "Yes. Our world, we hope. Our world is cold, stark, but undeniably beautiful..."
