About this deal

The psychological aspect of this story was off the charts. It had a wonderful start, pulling me in immediately. However, I got bogged down in the middle as too many scenarios had my brain spinning. Fortunately, the last half took a turn and was impossible to put down. The ending was exciting and there’s a sweet little twist at the end. I enjoyed the story despite that slow down in the middle. That’s two books by this author that provided compelling reading experiences and he’s now an auto read. 3.5 stars In fairness to the author I’ll first say that I am definitely an outlier on this book. Many others have read and enjoyed it, however for me it was very mediocre. How well can one ever really know another person? Is faith always blind? How much trust can be confidently placed in the person with whom one shares a life, home, children? A surprise visit to Joe's wife will turn his world upside down. Has Joe just caught his wife in an affair with Ben, one of the wealthiest, successful business men he knows? I love this author! I read 29 seconds last year and after I read that one I was hooked and wanted to read all of the author's books.

Lies — T.M.Logan

It’s the evening drive home from work on a route Joe Lynch has taken a hundred times with his young son. But today, Joe sees his wife meet another man—an encounter that will rip two families apart. Raising the question: Can we ever really trust those closest to us? So what the reader is left with from that initial opening is having to wade through all the lies upon lies that pile up for the rest of the book. I read this one as a buddy read with Amanda over @ Devouring Books and we were both engaged as it got going but somewhere in the middle this one started to fizzle out a bit. So while I hate to say it yet again I think this is another title that just went on a bit too long in the middle focusing on one big lie and had it moved forward a bit faster it would have maintained my attention a lot better. This book pulled me in right from the start and did not let go until that unpredictable ending! One small inconsequential decision can alter the course of a life irreparably... if you go to Red Lobster instead of Red Robin perhaps you Will meet the man of your dreams... if you had made a left instead of a right perhaps you would not have got in that car accident... or in the case of this book perhaps if Joe hadn’t followed his wife’s car when he saw it, he wouldn’t have ended up in the middle of a murder investigation....As this secluded but familiar setting is the perfect modern take on a genre, as Kate and her friends and families week long holiday to the south of France is about to turn into a trip from hell. In the business world, Ben can be ruthless. He also carries that take-no-prisoners approach into his love life. Rules? What rules? Nothing will stand in his way! It's amazing how just one moment can change your life. In this case Joe Lynch is driving home from work with his son when he spots his wife. He proceeds to follow her and soon sees her meeting up with another man. And this is when everything starts to unravel for Joe. So many lies. Who can he trust? Finding out your wife has been cheating on you for the past five months and then having to deal with what someone was doing to your life via social media is what Joe was dealing with.

Disclaimer: I won a copy of Lies from a Goodreads giveaway hosted by the publisher. Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review. Please be assured that my opinions are honest. I found the first 70% of the book a bit long and drawn out tbh. The reveal is interesting and there were a few gasps. Although, I found most of the characters I didn't like so I didn't care too much when all was revealed.Thank You to Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press and T.M Logan for the digital ARC I received in exchange for a candid review! The caravan of vacationers begin to arrive within hours of each other. The villa is stunning, luxurious, and spacious. All gravitate towards the immense pool. But Kate has been sidelined. She came across some highly suspicious texts from a Coralgirl on her husband Sean's phone. It appears that the contents indicate meeting within the villa and Kate's name is mentioned. Like an elevator crashing to the bottom floor, Kate realizes her husband is having an affair with one of her friends. Psychological thriller about a man who makes a spur of the moment decision that destroys his seemingly happy life in an instant. This one had some major twists at the end and I ended up really liking it. The first half seemed a bit slow and several times I really wanted conversations to happen between characters! I found this one to be a great summer read.

It would seem that the trend in writing these days is the unexpected twist, which in effect you know, completely negates the whole unanticipated thing. Enough said about that. :) Lies is a compelling cat and mouse thriller that grabbed me from chapter one. Although the premise is pretty implausible, the story is still a fun ride that kept me guessing until the very end. When the truth was finally revealed, I was disappointed. The ending is very contrived and, honestly, pretty ridiculous. Evans, Clement Anselm (1899). Confederate military history; a library of Confederate States history. Atlanta, Ga., Confederate Pub. Co. Thomas Muldrup Logan (November 3, 1840 – August 11, 1914) was an American soldier and businessman. He served as a Confederate general during the American Civil War, and afterward was greatly involved in railroad development in the Southern United States. All in all Lies has an interesting premise, but I could never fully buy into the characters or the events of the novel.Doing so would have saved a whole lot of angst, and it would have saved me from reading an entire novel. The fabric of our lives can seem so thin when it is suddenly pulled out from under us, never more so than when it has been woven with lies, one overlapping another.
