About this deal

As I mentioned earlier in this DeLonghi Magnifica Evo review, using the LatteCrema milk carafe couldn’t be easier. You just add milk, attach the flask to the machine, and away you go! Once you’ve made a drink, it’s really easy to flush the milk system without having to take everything apart. Once you add hot water or hot frothy milk to the Evo One Touch’s espressos, however, you’re unlikely to care: the result is a very drinkable cup of coffee. Any issues with bitterness are masked with the sweetness of the hot milk, or diluted by the hot water enough to make the flavour more appealing. Of course, this is a plastic fully automatic machine without a touchscreen display and app. But the milk function and the general range of settings and choices show that DeLonghi is once again focusing on the essentials: coffee preparation according to your wishes. DeLonghi Magnifica Evo Features Controlling the Magnifica Evo is simple due to a touchscreen that has a symbol for each of the functions and an option to make two coffees at once. The steam arm can also be used to dispense hot water if you want to top up your coffee or even make tea instead. This machine doesn’t come with a milk jug which was disappointing considering its price. Because of the design, we found a deep milk jug wasn’t suitable for use with the steam wand because it wasn’t long enough to reach into the cold milk. To experience the miracle of the perfect amount of milk, you have to press the My Latte button – it’s the glass icon with the heart on it. To make it easier for you to measure, the milk carafe has handy level markers.

I’ll leave it to you to decide whether we should talk about inspiration, homage or a brazen copy. Either way, my playful side, taste buds and coffee beans were all pleased by the Magnifica Evo. Once you’ve decided, a prod of a button efficiently grinds, brews and delivers coffee to your cup. The manual milk frothing adds a little more effort but the flip side is there’s no carafe or milk delivery system to faff around with and clean. I like to complain a lot. Usually about half-baked “new releases” in my super automatic espresso machine guide 2023.

Although this DeLonghi machine keeps things simple and effective, there’s plenty left to talk about. Let’s continue this DeLonghi Magnifica Evo review by looking at the machine’s many features. User Interface Apart from this pretty idea, the Magnifica Evo is one of the DeLonghi espresso machines obviously oriented toward a popular model from an equally popular competitor. More on that later too. The steam arm doesn’t come with a compatible milk jug as standard so when we used a steaming jug we already owned, the wand wasn’t long enough to reach into the milk. This, of course, is easily fixed with a smaller milk jug but do bear in mind that you won’t be able to froth as much milk in one go. It was also a little disappointing not to have a milk jug included, despite the price of this machine. When we did make a cappuccino, the steam arm did a great job of frothing and adequately heating the milk within 20 seconds. The milk was silky and well-frothed and held its shape well when mixed with the espresso. The tubeless milk system from Philips has been hugely popular and successful, especially since the operation of its fully automatic machines is particularly simple.

Upgrade to the Magnifica S Smart here, however, and you get a far sturdier and more handsome machine. The strength dial is a really nice touch – it makes it easy for anyone in the household to adjust coffee strength and without needing to digest the user manual beforehand. Even if DeLonghi’s version isn’t a direct copy, I can’t help but feel like the Italian manufacturer took inspiration from its competitor. With that said, DeLonghi’s overall design is much more modern and streamlined, and the machine is even more compact. Still, as a concept it’s great. You have the option of programming milk foam settings or obtaining exactly the amount that you’ve poured into the compact carafe. In other news, the latte macchiato from this machine gets full marks. Mine had all the beautiful layers I’d expect and the Magnifica Evo prepared it correctly – hot milk first, then foam, then espresso. User ProfilesIn addition, I have to report that the cappuccino isn’t too pretty – at least according to fully automatic standards. The foam cap is a bit puny, even if the mouthfeel is creamy and delicious. For the best results, pouring a single or double espresso separately, then placing the cup under the steam wand and manually using the hot water setting to top it up produces the better results. Dark, chocolatey, full-bodied and also nice and hot: this is what I intended for my Coffeeness coffee and that’s how the machine presented it during my DeLonghi Magnifica Evo review. In fact, I would’ve been surprised if this fully automatic coffee machine had come at me with a particularly refined flavor profile. There is a steam arm and a coffee dispenser on the front of the machine and the latter is very easy to slide up and down so that you can fit a variety of mug sizes beneath it. This is a simple but very welcomed design element as many machines require you to move the drip tray to fit a taller mug beneath the dispenser. The De’Longhi Magnifica Evo is one of the biggest coffee machines we’ve tested. It measures 44 x 36 x 24cm (w x d x h) which means it’s going to take up a lot of space. If you’re considering keeping this machine underneath your wall-mounted cupboards, bear in mind that you’ll still need to be able to reach the top of the coffee maker because that’s where you’ll add either coffee beans or ground coffee. In today’s DeLonghi Magnifica Evo review I’ll be sharing my experiences using one of the Italian manufacturer’s latest releases. In fact, DeLonghi gave me a machine to test out before the Magnifica Evo was even launched. If you need hot water for an americano, you have to remove the milk flask and exchange it for an extra nozzle, which comes as part of the accessories. That’s all there is to it! DeLonghi Magnifica Evo Cleaning Spend a little time optimising the grind size, coffee temperature and the amount of espresso and milk used for each drink, and you can get better results but you can also make things worse, so there’s no harm in just leaving it at the default settings. Whereas the Magnifica S Smart needed tweaking from the off, I’d be happy to just leave the Evo One Touch alone.

Earlier in this DeLonghi Magnifica Evo review I mentioned the influence of a certain Dutch manufacturer on the machine’s milk system. Let’s take a closer look at how the Magnifica Evo fares in comparison with a few other machines. DeLonghi Magnifica Evo With LatteCrema vs Magnifica Evo With Steam Wand However, you should be aware that this kind of side-mounted milk flask with a long spout never works for two cups at the same time. What it is, however, is a smart buy. Once you’ve added fresh coffee beans and got the settings just so, this is a machine that produces a good – if not magnificent – coffee with a minimum of fuss. De’Longhi Magnifica S Smart review: What you need to know Start by filling the water reservoir and adding coffee beans to the hopper. Once you’ve turned the machine on, you’ll need to enter your water hardness. You’ll also have to wait for the machine to go about its business. This involves preheating, rinsing and filling the water circuit. Believe me when I tell you that making quality coffee drinks with the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo is a piece of cake. Since you don’t have to deal with a display or menus, simply press the specialty coffee button of your choice – once briefly for the factory default, longer to start customizing settings. In addition, the milk system isn’t just tubeless, but also provides you with milk foam on demand: you put a certain amount of milk in the container, and the fully automatic machine processes it (almost) completely. I’ll clarify in detail why I find this so ingenious later in my DeLonghi magnifica Evo review. The DeLonghi Magnifica Evo ECAM290.81.TB is a countertop espresso machine that offers a variety of features for coffee lovers. With a water tank capacity of 1.8 liters, it can hold a substantial amount of water, reducing the need for frequent refilling. This coffee maker allows users to choose between coffee beans or ground coffee as their preferred input type, providing flexibility for different brewing preferences. The coffee bean capacity is 250 grams, allowing for a decent amount of beans to be stored at one time.
