About this deal

But really I just love that this is finally a time when our actual experience of our hormones and our cycles is what matters because it’s about time that we were listened to. So it’s false to think that you need blood tests to determine if you’re perimenopausal or not. I know that some of you will be in the early stages of perimenopause and trying to conceive. And thinking about it, one of my clients has just started using progesterone to improve her perimenopausal symptoms. And her GP actually cautioned her that her fertility could increase, so, to be careful and use contraception. Knowing this makes a difference. No more beating yourself up because you feel less productive or less inclined to hang out with others. I know the newspapers tend to say that HRT increases your risk of cancer and they’re often very dramatic in that reporting. But the research studies that they’re referring to were flawed, the actual studies were flawed. And the data that they collected was then analysed incorrectly, and I would say reported irresponsibly. They also used forms of HRT that tend not to be used these days. You can read all about this in the book.

I initially rated this 3 stars but have now downgraded it to 2 after I ruminated on it some more over the weekend. This was mainly due to a level of unease that Period Power left me with, as well as a feeling that I didn't really take as much away from it as I'd hoped. So, can you see how powerful just knowing this is? How this knowledge will increase the level of compassion that you have for yourself. I’m really into increasing self-compassion, and it’s a theme we will return to repeatedly on this podcast. Autumn is such a powerful season, and the energy shift that comes with it can inspire a shift in identity. The season marks both an end and a beginning, and the no-nonsense vibe that autumn brings provides us with an opportunity to look inward, see the raw truth available to us, and tap into and use its energy to make changes in our lives. Much criticism arrived to pseudoscience in some aspects and this I do have to agree with and would urge others to take caution with. However, that for me was not my purpose for reading, so I was less intent on taking everything said as fact. In the book, many of the things said are still genuine helpful treatments that doctors themselves do use (i.g Vitus Agni’s-Castus supplementation being a popular homeopathic remedy and upping fat intake etc) so I’d say the majority follows good word. Other positives, letting no be a complete sentence at last, no longer giving a shit about what other people think of you, not having a cycle anymore. For some of my clients this is a complete relief and very welcome. For others it’s bittersweet, and others miss theirs greatly. Then we have fully stepping into who you are, not explaining yourself or apologising, putting yourself first. And often a huge surge in creativity, and ideas, and the desire to do what matters most to you and really prioritising that for yourself.

Overall though, I think every menstruator should take a go at this book, if not for the explanation instead for the reasons to begin respecting and tuning in with a cycle that brings immensely valuable wisdom to the table. The book also caters to overarching menstruators, so the language is thoughtful and inclusive for those with a more complex relationship with the cycle. And it’s the same for me when I talk about being autistic. I don’t like the term ‘diagnosis’. And I’ll get onto that in a future date. I know a lot of you would like to hear more about this. I’ve been receiving a lot of questions about my so called autism diagnosis. So, to those of you who’ve been asking for this for a while, thank you for your patience. I’m in the ovulation phase of my cycle. And I actually suspect that I ovulated yesterday as, along with some other key indicators, I feel a shift in my energy today. As in a shift in the amount of energy that I have, and the nature of my energy. Moving on, maybe you’ve got some sass going on. Maybe you’re feeling a bit flirtatious. Again, this all helps with the typical human mating strategy. Our behavior is helping us to take advantage of the fertile window in the cycle when conception is possible.

Then author states by describing the process of how a fertilized egg in the womb takes form of a girl or a boy child. That a baby is naturally a girl but due to infusion of different levels of hormones it takes finally one of the genders, followed by description of various parts of female and male reproductive system with diagrams. These were things most of us have studied in school curriculum . Well, it’s not just like that. It’s an incredible and intricate process but we’re skipping that science lesson for today. So you ovulate and there’s a drop off in hormone production. All that estrogen and testosterone takes a nosedive. I can’t tell you how many of my clients have experienced significant relief simply by understanding this. Welcome to the Period Power podcast. I’m your host Maisie Hill menstrual health expert, acupuncturist, certified life coach and author of Period Power. I’m on a mission to help you get your cycle working for you so that you can use it to get what you want out of life. Are you ready? Let’s go. This book] made me want to send Marvel my period schedule ... Can I do stunts around this time, please? * Jameela Jamil *

This book is NOT ONLY about Period but way more than that.It is so beautifully written in lucid words it never felt heavy even presents motivation that however our body looks WE ALL ARE BEAUTIFUL naturally.

Have you ever wondered what perimenopause is and how to know if you're experiencing it? If so, today's episode is for you. There are lots of reasons why mental health can suffer in midlife. Some of it will be to do with changing hormone levels and the resulting influence on other chemicals in the brain. These are the physiological reasons that can impact on things like mood, anxiety, motivation, your ability to focus and things like memory recall and cognition. So it can be a time where there is less resilience because of the hormonal changes that are taking place. But this is also a phase in life in which we are usually stretched and the past year will have done so even more I suspect for many of you. This fantastic guide to menstruation is the perfect way to learn more about the human body and how periods impact far more than we realize. Striking the perfect balance between research and accessibility, this book will have you saying, 'Wow, I had no idea!' at least once per chapter. * BookRiot * For a long time in sport we've treated female athletes like ‘little men’. We've used things that have worked in male athletes and just transposed them onto training and support in females, and that seems to ignore the fact that the biology of these two individuals are completely different. You're ignoring this massive opportunity to tap into the potential of understanding your hormones and utilising them. Now, we can break the cycle down into smaller phases. And that’s something I’ll be getting into in future episodes. But for now, I just want you to understand the two halves of the cycle. That’s because how we think, feel, and act is often different in each half of the cycle. And understanding why this may be the case for you is going to make a massive difference to your life.So these are just some of the benefits to the menopause transition. Yes, perimenopause can be hugely confronting and challenging, but there are positives to the process and it is a window of opportunity to look at your health, to look at your life and to make powerful decisions about what you want and need. But the fact that your hormones fluctuate every month doesn't make you any less of a level-headed or competent person. Changes in mood, energy, and desire throughout your cycle are all perfectly normal; if you learn to recognize and work with them, they can even boost your natural talents and abilities.

Now, the reason for this is that hormone levels fluctuate while in perimenopause. And sometimes they’ll be the same as someone who is premenopausal, as in not going through perimenopause. So blood tests just aren’t a reliable way of determining if you’re in the club or not. Now, there are times when they might be appropriate and useful such as if you’re experiencing symptoms kind of earlier than you might expect these symptoms to start appearing. Then your GP might recommend them. First it states that not all women bleed and not all females born with an womb needs to have kids.Sexuality is a choice. We need to respect that.I liked that part. I want you to be honest, tell me what you think, and how I can make the podcast even more helpful… Make sure you hit “Send!” I have a degree in the history of art and architecture in Africa and Asia. This is the lie. I actually started this degree but I didn’t finish it because I ended up moving to New York instead. Medical book to be read by women and even men to avoid unwanted problems and have a healthy balanced lifestyle.Maybe your body feels a bit antsy. You’ll be able to recognize that this is your body trying to get you to take a walk and find a mate. I used to work in a shop that sold exotic birds. This is true. I used to live in New York in my early 20’s and I worked in a parrot shop, or store as Americans would say, in the West Village.
