And lastly Joe. How much this story revolved around her just blew, BLEW my mind away. How much I respected her as Katie quietly read her letter... I don't believe I've felt that for a character before. Joe, Christy, Alex's first wife or whoever you want to call is someone I want to grow up and become like. I want to be selfless and love my husband and children that much that I would do anything and everything for their happiness. This story is perfect. So many messages were brought across from it. So many important morals. Safe Haven is a 2013 American romantic drama fantasy thriller film starring Julianne Hough, Josh Duhamel and Cobie Smulders. The film marks the final film role for actor Red West. It was released theatrically in North America on February 14, 2013. The film was directed by Lasse Hallström, and is an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' 2010 novel of the same name. The film was originally set for a February 8 release. [4] Plot [ edit ] The entire film is based on the theme of second chances. Katie gets a second chance at true happiness and love after meeting Alex. Similarly, Jo is also looking for a second chance, not for herself but her family. Through her letter, it is evident that Jo wants the next woman who comes into Alex’s life to complete her family by taking her place and provide her husband and kids with the second chance they deserve at love and family. Have you read this book or any other books of Nicholas Sparks? Did you like the story? Which characters do you love the most? Let me know in the comments.

People don't understand why I dislike Nicholas Sparks' books. Here's what I think... I think he wrote a pretty good novel-- The Notebook--out of the gate. And then, because he had a fabulous smile and was a man who seemed to understand true romance and could write about it minus the smut, he got assigned to the best PR person in the history of publishing. Kevin, I've never been so scared of a character. I mentally flinch at the way he thought. And how much he believed what he was telling himself. I know that there are most defiantly people like that in the world. So wound up in their lies that they just become one. Not only lying to others but to themselves. Becoming the lies they tell. It breaks my heart, to think of all the people like that and how much they are suffering. Though most don't even know they are having never felt the joy/love to miss it. Nicholas Sparks movie 'Safe Haven' starts shooting in Wilmington". WWayTV3.com. Retrieved October 25, 2012. The first part is engaging enough, Katie is a strong character and I liked that. She also had a dark past that she's trying to ran away from. And Alex is,well, good inside out and has family on top of his priority list.Predictable, but I could handle that. Then Nicholas Sparks couldn't resist taking it to the hokey and totally unbelievable level by making it so Katie's neighbor was really a magical spirit. She was Alex's wife who loved him so much she wanted him to be happy with another wife who would also love her children.

Yet it’s easier said than done. It’s ingrained within us to have feelings. This reader knows from Spitznagel’s views on macro matters that he too has feelings, but it’s apparent he doesn’t let them seep into how he puts money to work. Ever. As his Universal partner, Nicholas Taleb, puts it in his very enjoyable foreword to Safe Haven, “in more than two decades, I never saw him once deviate a micro inch from a given protocol.” Imagine that. Imagine being able to routinely tune out the outside noise, but more importantly the noise, emotions and political feelings within us that might cause one to deviate. Alex gives Katie a letter with the words "To Her" on the envelope. It explains that he must be in love to have given her the letter and she hopes that she feels the same, wishing that she could be there with them. Enclosed with the letter is a photo of Alex's late wife. Katie realizes that her neighbor "Jo" was the ghost of Carly watching over them. This was my first time reading Nicholas Sparks. I never even seen any of the movies. I must say I am a new fan, for sure. This story was truly beautiful. I don't know if I can even explain why I loved this book so much. The characters are great, the romance is done well, and the conclusion was deeply satisfying. I am eager to see the film, now! An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman's struggle to find love again after she arrives in a small North Carolina town. Barefoot and covered in blood, a terrified Erin runs to an elderly neighbor’s house for shelter. After cutting and bleaching her hair, she arrives at a bus station. Cops appear and start looking for her, but she gets on a bus and escapes. Now, Hillwalking London provides ten routes, all around Greater London, of striking high-level walking. Here are seven hills of Croydon; the Sewardstone Hills north of Chingford; the former telegraph stations stretching across south-east London, as well as cherished ascents like Hampstead Heath and Richmond Hill. A base camp for refreshments is given for every expedition. Safe Haven – Rise of the RAMs was the first book I wrote. It’s the story of one family’s fight to survive after the outbreak of a reanimating virus. Little did I know that six years later, it would still be going strong and has spawned best-selling offshoots on both sides of the Atlantic as well as down under. I bought this book on a whim. All the ladies at my workplace seem to be reading it and I keep overhearing them rave about it. It's Nicholas Sparks best book yet! When I got up to the register the lady ringing me up said, "Ooh, Nicholas Sparks! I love his books. They're soo good. Oh, and look! It's going to be a movie. Gotta see that one." Mind you I had two other books in the pile, not a word about those. OK, I really need to stop reading Nicholas Sparks. Everytime I read something by him I think "Right. That's it. I will not waste anymore time in my precious short life reading his bland, shmaltzy, velveeta cheese like substance novels. But then one of the many people (and yes, well educated people) I know will say "Oh, but Kristen, you should read his latest book. You'll like this one." I fall for it everytime. This book, I was told by numerous people was different because it was darker, not as marshmallowy (that was my adjective, not theirs) as his other books, so I read it. And I disliked it. A lot.

I really enjoyed the story and the characters. The story is a typical story for him to write but I still liked it nonetheless, and particularly the letter at the end. After the fire, Alex recovers several letters written by his late wife Carly before she died. They were prepared ahead of time for important events such as Josh's eighteenth birthday and Lexie's wedding day. He also reconciles with Josh. I am still one of those people that enjoys Nicholas Sparks books and movies. I really prefer to read the book before I watch the movie, so I've owned the movie since it came out but never watched it. This was the first TBR takedown book and I am happy to say this seems to be working well, and now I don't have to unhaul this book.Wow. So, I guess I have some issues. Anyway, I vow that this really really was my last Sparks novel. This time I mean it! Katie is a strong woman. She lived with a psycho for so long. Hercourage to stay with her physically and mentally abusive husband is admirable. She tried her best to love and look after him by cooking delicious food and housekeeping. I am sure there are so many Katies that exist among us. Josh Duhamel as Alex Wheatley, Katie's new boyfriend and a widower who struggles to raise his two kids after the death of his wife. When I read a romance, I am looking for a love story that grip you and doesn’t let go, for emotional turmoil, I want to feel, to be moved, have your heart beat so fast you have to stop reading to take a deep breath. This novel was too plane. She soon meets Alex Wheatley, a widower who runs the local general store. They strike an immediate rapport and become friends. Katie also befriends her neighbor, a lonely woman named Jo. She spends some time getting acquainted with Alex’s two kids, Lexie and Josh. Alex gifts Katie a bicycle so she won’t have to walk to get herself across town. Katie sees this as a favor, and they have a small argument, but she realizes that it was a romantic gesture. Not long after this, she starts dating Alex and becomes a mother-figure to his kids.

What’s challenging about Spitznagel’s confident belief in himself is that as a reviewer, how do you critique an expert investor who has written a book on investing? More challenging is how to do this as a commentator when the author makes plain in the opening chapter that “Talk is cheap,” and “Ideas and commentary are just that.” Ok, but your reviewer writes commentary for a living, and communicates those ideas for a living. What to do? When a mysterious young woman (Julianne Hough) arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight-knit community raises questions about her part. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex (Josh Duhanel), a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller. I very much enjoyed the book and the movie, but I think what I love best about the book was Jo and how that whole character was.
