Sailor Moon Eternal Edition - Penguin Random House

Like many comics, Sailor Moon was originally released in monthly magazines in Japan. The main story was released in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from December 28, 1991, to February 3, 1997. The short-stories were published in RunRun within this timeframe which is the same magazine Codename: Sailor V was released on. The final short story, Parallel Sailor Moon, was not released this way. In 1999, after the series was completed, it was released through the Materials Collection Artbook. So Sailor Moon is about a 14 year girl called Usagi Tuskino who find this cat name Luna on the street. This cat is a magical cat who gives Usagi a magical brooch so she can transform into Sailor Moon, the champion of Love and Justice. Her mission is to find the other Sailor Senshi aka Guardians so they can find an lost Princess of an ancient Kingdom which wield an magical artifact called the Legendary Sliver Crystal which have unlimited power. They have to find her and the crystal before both of them fall into the hands of evil. How rooted in astrology some of the book / characters are (I can remember as a young girl getting heavily involved in astrology after watching and reading Sailor Moon so it's something I think needs to be treaded lightly on for younger readers especially. It's not a ton -- but there are some pieces that are involved and pulled from it. Takeuchi is married to Yoshihiro Togashi, the author of the YuYu Hakusho series and Hunter × Hunter series.A year before meeting Sailor Moon–and her destiny as a member of the Sailor Guardians–Minako was the first hero to find her calling. At age 13, all this teen can talk about is finding a boyfriend, but her dreams change when a talking cat with a crescent moon on his forehead reveals her true identity as the Soldier of Justice, Sailor V! Miracles have returned to modern Tokyo, and she must use her powers to stop the Dark Agency, which is trying to manipulate Japan’s entertainment industry and enslave the population. The eternal edition will be published in Germany this year. Because one book is about 25 Euro (28 dollar) I asked myself if I really should spend this much money for just one volume. Does this edition contain new pictures (I mean the coloured ones) or are they identical to the pictures already being published many ago in the Sailor Moon Artbooks?

I loved the artwork, and this edition has some colour illustrations, so that was really cool! I will say that this volume was quite formulaic (just like the TV show was), so after a bit we knew how the villains worked and how they would be thwarted/how easily they’d be thwarted, but I also didn’t care because I was having so much fun and remembering all the times I watched the show as a kid or played make believe with my friends. 😭❤️ I enjoyed a lot of the dialogue and overall pacing of the story. Usagi is spunky and fun, with some really cute moments. Her and Chiba (Tuxedo Mask) are a cute couple that you know are destined to be together. The side cast hasn't been flushed out yet but I liked Mercury and of course Luna, the car, even if I felt there's something not right about her. I can see how this is a classic manga but sometimes the art is just... bad. How does anatomy work?! Lol I will say I find it amazing Tekeuchi here created something so simple but ingenious. I want to maybe make a video of it since it's so smart. Taking the Shojo ideas, romance, very sexy men, and a bit of spunky comedy and mix it with battle Shonen and some slight mystery/horror vibes. Simple, easy, and it's SO good.Tuxedo Mask always kissing Usagi when she passes out after a fight and then whisking her off to his apartment. He is 17 and she is 14. While nothing happens between them, it isn't my favorite to see. I am a bit more forgiving of it since I know their past and such together, but want to mention it for content reasons. It was announced during a panel at New York Comic Con 2012 that a new art book would be released. [18] Kodansha USA made a press release about the artbook and the panel included a message from Naoko Takeuchi about it. [19] After over a decade this artbook has not materialized.

Starting on July 1, 2019, the Sailor Moon manga was officially released in digital format for the first time when Kodansha released the Eternal Editions digitally which were sold several digital eBook platforms such as ComiXology, Kobo and others. [12] [13] They were made available in English, Japanese, and 8 other languages at first. [14] While the first four volumes were released together during the initial launch, the fifth volume's digital release was not done until October 15, 2019. However, starting from Volume 6, the release of the digital version of the Eternal Editions were not done alongside the physical releases. As of May 2022, the Eternal Editions of Codename: Sailor V have not been released digitally. Jonathon has always been fascinated by media, from the big hitters to the small, obscure, and often overlooked titles that linger on the sidelines, capturing both the on and off-camera stories that make these shows so fascinating. Sailor Moon and Naoko Takeuchi really paved the way for the modern Magical Girl genre since a lot things that Sailor Moon did has really become a staple for that genre and the other Magical Girl shows that come after it. From Petty Cure, Winx Club, W.I.T.C.H, and others. Sailor Moon has also influenced a lot of people from the west as well. From Rebecca Sugar ( Steven Universe), Thomas Astruc ( Miraculous Ladybug), Sarah Raughley ( The Effigies Series), Sarah J. Mass ( ToG, ACOTAR) and of course Marissa Meyer ( The Lunar Chronicles ) The funny thing about Marissa Meyer is that she wrote a lot of Sailor Moon Fanfics under the name of Alica Blade. Which you can still find all her fanfics on FF. net. So it's suffice to say that Sailor Moon has made a powerful impact around the world. Too bad I already have the 2011 editions (not to mention most of the original ones too). Seems like bit of a scam to me, releasing these so soon after the 2011 ones (which wrapped up, what 2015?)This volume mostly goes over how Usagi Tsukino, a 14 year old middle schooler becomes the guardian known as Sailor Moon. Through this volume you meet a few other major characters like Sailor Mercury, Sailor Venus, Tuxedo Mask, and so on. This first volume is very much a introduction to the world of Sailor moon while getting some fun fights inbetween. Naoko Takeuchi (武内 直子, Takeuchi Naoko) born March 15, 1967, a manga artist (mangaka), lives in Tokyo, Japan. Takeuchi's works have a wide following among anime/manga fans. She has become a well-known mangaka worldwide. Her most popular work, Sailor Moon, rose to become one of the most recognized manga/anime figures to date. Finally made my way to reading Sailor Moon!! This will be a review for the whole series, so beware of spoilers! I would say some of the references and jokes are outdated at this point. Also, while it's enjoyable art it is very simple. And didn't need the couple of panty shots...but I guess if I was 13-18 year old boy (or girl, I see you) I'd like those. But overall least it was rare. The guardians in sailor suits return in this definitive edition of the everlasting masterpiece! Features all-new cover illustrations by creator Naoko Takeuchi, a glittering holographic coating, an extra-large size, premium paper, French flaps, and a newly-revised translation!
