There aren’t any mono laser A4 machines that can take more than 250gsm, and the few that do, won’t work with foil unfortunately. Changes to toner on newer printers means that they contain more wax-like substances that don’t lend themselves to the foiling process. The Samsung M3820ND works OK with foil, but will only print on 220gsm. Other than the Samsung machine, there aren’t really any others we could recommend. If designing a book be sure to consider the weight of paper on the inside and also your cover requirements. If you want to provide a quality professional finish then opting for heavier paper is your best choice. If you are looking to get across the idea of discounts and value for money then you may decide to run with a lighter paper weight throughout the brochure.
