About this deal

When I started reading the book I expected another sorrowful account of the worst time in history, but in the end I closed the book with a smile on my face and the thought that everybody should read this book to be encouraged to deal with change in a new way. (Me included!) Historically accurate depiction of a Jewish family's experience living in 1930s Europe as fascism is on the rise. Anna and her brother learn the languages (Swiss German, French) and describe the cultural habits of the countries in which they live.

Sieben Menschen träumen von einem neuen Leben in Amerika … und geraten in die Fänge eines Schleusers. 1953 verfasst, erscheint Hoerschelmanns Hörspiel-Klassiker heute von beklemmend neuer Aktualität.Though on the surface this is a simple refugee story, seen through the eyes of a small girl, there are really three journeys in Pink Rabbit. The first is a literal one, in which the problems of temporary lodgings, making new friends and adapting to strange languages and cultures are described with a stoical humour. Suppose your country began to change. Suppose that without your noticing, it became dangerous for some people to live in it any longer, and you found, to your surprise, that your own father was one of those people. This is what happened to Anna in 1933. The BBC radio adaptations of Judith Kerr's internationally acclaimed trilogy - plus bonus documentary Anna suddenly finds things moving too fast for her to understand. One day, her father goes unaccountably missing. Then she herself and her brother Max are being rushed by their mother, in alarming secrecy, away from everything they know - home and schoolmates and well-loved toys - right out of Germany! However, the story is narrated with too much superficiality. I know it is written for children, but the Nazis and Hitler are just a mere annoyance. They are not considered or treated as a strong threat, which made me give the book only three stars.

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr - review When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr - review

A cinematic adaptation of When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit premiered in December 2019 in Germany, directed by Oscar-winning director Caroline Link. Carla Juri and Oliver Masucci portray the parents. [9] Stage adaptations [ edit ] My parents were wonderful. My brother Michael and I knew there wasn't much money but it didn't seem to matter much. They made us feel it was an adventure. I much preferred it to the sort of childhood I would have had had we had a so-called normal childhood. When we were in Paris we had this grotty, tiny flat and were looking out over Paris and I said to my father, 'Isn't it wonderful being a refugee!' [5] We are used to read books about World War II and the events that led to it from the perspective of adults. In my case, all the books I have read about the Second World War have been written by grow-ups (last one being the beautiful “The Garden of Angels”). Bombs on Aunt Dainty, which was originally published as The Other Way Round in 1975, [1] is about Anna and her family's life in London during World War II. Una deliciosa novela infantil que trata el tema de los alemanes que tuvieron que emigrar cuando Hitler subió al poder por no estar de acuerdo con las ideas nazis y de las dificultades que pasaron en ese tiempo.

He wants everybody to vote for him in the elections and then he’s going to stop the Jews,” said Elsbeth. “Do you think he’s going to stop Rachel Lowenstein?”
