Anthony Horowitz: The more adventures Alex Rider had, the more I found myself compelled to take this darker edge", The Guardian, 16 March 2015. Accessed 31 Jan 2017 Three of Diamonds (2004): A compilation of The French Confection, I Know What You Did Last Wednesday and The Blurred Man. The three stories were first released in this edition, before subsequently being sold as separate books. List adventure mysteries (films or novels) the children know (eg, Dr Who, Star Wars, Harry Potter). Have they read stories by Anthony Horowitz before? What did they think of them? I read this book as one of my classes is studying it, a year 6 class. This book is a horror story about several people visiting an island as they think they are having a school reunion. However, this is not the case and over the few days they are there most of them get murdered but all in different ways which link to what prizes they won at school. For example, someone got stabbed by an Eiffel Tower model because they won the French prize and someone else got poisoned because they won the prize for Chemistry. The boy who tells the story is the one who works out who the murdered is due to him and his brother being the only two who weren't murdered. The murdered was another person from the school who came second in every prize meaning that he always missed out on coming first and so wanted revenge on all the other ex pupils.

The dramatic revelation comes after Margot, Allison’s girlfriend, becomes suspicious about her real identity after Dylan, who also has feelings for Allison, attempts to convince others that Allison has been lying about being Lennon. Based on the acclaimed 1973 novel by Lois Duncan, which also inspired the iconic 1997 film, I Know What You Did Last Summer tells the story of a group of teenagers who are involved in a fatal car accident on the night of their graduation which results in the death of Lennon, the twin sister of Allison. In The Diamond Brothers in… The French Confection (2002), the Diamond Brothers win a trip to Paris thanks to a French strawberry yoghurt, but accidentally get caught up in a drug smuggling ring and end up being forced to team up with the Sûreté to take them down. The title is a play-on-words on the film The French Connection. Probably the first book I ever read that made me feel genuine fear. Horowitz can definitely write horror (for younglings anyway).Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing - In The Diamond Brothers in… I Know What You Did Last Wednesday (2002), seven friends, along with the Diamond Brothers, are invited to a remote island for a school reunion. But then the host is found dead, and other people start dying in bizarre ways with no way off the island. The plot itself is a spoof of the Agatha Christie novel And Then There Were None, whilst the title is a spoof of the film I Know What You Did Last Summer.

This might well have been one of my favourites of the series. It was short and too the point; I also didn’t see the ending coming which is always a good sign in a mystery. Anthony Horowitz, OBE is ranked alongside Enid Blyton and Mark A. Cooper as "The most original and best spy-kids authors of the century." (New York Times). Anthony has been writing since the age of eight, and professionally since the age of twenty. In addition to the highly successful Alex Rider books, he is also the writer and creator of award winning detective series Foyle’s War, and more recently event drama Collision, among his other television works he has written episodes for Poirot, Murder in Mind, Midsomer Murders and Murder Most Horrid. Anthony became patron to East Anglia Children’s Hospices in 2009. This is And Then There Were None meets children fiction and a very dry humour. I’ve finished the Diamond Brothers series with this book, yet another Anthony Horowitz series in the bag. And wow, this one was a hell of a lot darker than the previous ones in the series. They were all funny and slightly absurd but this one was definitely a little bit more grown up. It felt a little bit like some of of the books that Horowitz writes for older teens rather than for younger kids.In 1991, The Diamond Brothers, a six-part television series written and directed by Horowitz himself, was broadcast on ITV. [14] The series is based on the book South by South East, which Horowitz claimed he wrote after he had written the television series, effectively making South by South East a novelisation of the television series rather than the novel acting as the primary source of inspiration. Both McLinden and Dale reprised their respective film roles, which makes the television series act as a sequel to Just Ask for Diamond. However, unlike the film adaptation, the series has never been released on any home media, and it was also never rebroadcast. In The Diamond Brothers in… The Blurred Man (2002), the Diamond Brothers investigate the sudden and mysterious death of a charitable philanthropist who suffers chronic allergies that prevent him from meeting almost anyone in person. The book's title and plot is a spoof of the film The Third Man. I Know What You Did Last Summer has captivated fans in recent weeks as its sprawling mystery has been slowly unfurled as new episodes have arrived.
