Description

The destroyed people were mercifully removed from their evil lives and will be given opportunity to know and choose God at the second resurrection when the world will know God, and be under the rule of Jesus and his saints. What an interesting book that was! Lots of going on here and it might not be to everyone. There are gruesome descriptions of the murders with a little edgy goth style. It is a dark thriller with a dark main character. I liked the story when it was at the fair depicting the travelling family unit. It was also fun watching the character traits reveal themselves. Whilst I struggled with the final twist, I did enjoy exploring the motive for it - that was a nice addition which made for a different viewpoint. The crime genre is filled with stories like Jericho’s – one can take a peek at the works of Val McDermid, Stuart McBride, or Helen Fields to find stories overflowing with deeply-flawed yet righteous investigators, labyrinthian plots, and murders macabre enough to turn David Fincher’s stomach (there are, this reviewer must report, some in Killing Jericho, that wouldn’t have been out of place in his seminal Se7en). It’s a credit then that Hussey, drawing upon family experience within the GRT community and history, crafts a story with a unique premise and hook, steeped in Traveller lore, from a social group sorely unexplored and woefully misunderstood by the wider UK population. Bruins, Hendrik J.; van der Plicht, Johannes (1995). "Tell Es-Sultan (Jericho): Radiocarbon Results…" (PDF). Radiocarbon. Proceedings of the 15th International ¹⁴C Conference. 37 (2): 213–220. doi: 10.1017/S0033822200030666. Joshua said to the two men ( AE) who had spied out ( AF) the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house and bring her out and all who belong to her, in accordance with your oath to her. ( AG)” 23 So the young men who had done the spying went in and brought out Rahab, her father and mother, her brothers and sisters and all who belonged to her. ( AH) They brought out her entire family and put them in a place outside the camp of Israel.Dark, exciting, furiously-paced and full of twists, KILLING JERICHO sets the stage for a unique detective' Alex Smith It can be difficult among the ocean of crime fiction that's out there to enjoy to conjure a sleuth who's undeniably fresh, while still feeling authentic as well (rather than try-hard or forced by the author's hand). A main character that seems very different to what's gone before but also real and organic to the particular story and setting, not just shoved in by the author in a 'look at this, look how unique my character is' way, like they've cobbled together a jigsaw puzzle of lesser-used character traits. Crime fiction is crying out for more diversity, and in Scott Jericho we have been gifted a blisteringly new brand of hero." - Sarah Hilary Following God's law, the Israelites killed every man and woman of every age, as well as the oxen, sheep, and donkeys. Only Rahab, her parents, brothers and all "those who belonged to her" were spared. They were incorporated into Israel. Joshua then cursed anybody who rebuilt the foundations and gates, with the deaths of their firstborn and youngest child respectively. This was eventually fulfilled by Hiel the Bethelite under King Ahab's reign. Scott Jericho is an unusual detective with many flaws. He’s intelligent and insightful but also temperamental and abrasive. He loves books, and his dream has always been to become a writer. Until the Malanowski case. Oh, and he’s gay. It’s just a given, no more and no less. It’s refreshing to read queer rep like this. And I loved Haz, by the way!

Jericho in Joshua? Why did God order the destruction of Jericho in Joshua?

Dark, exciting, furiously paced and full of twists, Killing Jericho sets the stage for a unique detective’ – Alex Smith So I have preliminarilyset myself a target of 45books. I can obviously edit this later but I amconscious of the fact that I would like life to return to normal at some point this year and as it doesthat wouldprobably mean less time to read and 45 seems like a good, manageable number. I changed my target twice last year, from 30 to 40, then 40 to 50 and once I'd hit 50 I just thought Iwould leave it and enjoy everything else I read. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times. Well, just look at these prizes! A limited edition print depicting the first EVER full visual of Scott Jericho, created by the incredibly talented Chris White, and signed by both Chris and William; a signed copy of the book; and a luxurious Afternoon Tea hamper from Cutter & Squidge!Hence we see what at first sight seems to be a barbaric command, but essentially it was necessary to ‘clean up the earth’ (as the flood also did), and also to prevent the ‘seed line’ to the Messiah being ‘born’, by ‘corrupting’ it. There is considerable evidence throughout the Bible to explain God's judgments. The words written throughout the Book of Deuteronomy (as noted above) describe the reasons for Canaan's utter destruction. It would not be confined to Jericho: that was merely the first stop along the way. God gave these people ample opportunity to repent of their sins.
