The destroyed people were mercifully removed from their evil lives and will be given opportunity to know and choose God at the second resurrection when the world will know God, and be under the rule of Jesus and his saints. What an interesting book that was! Lots of going on here and it might not be to everyone. There are gruesome descriptions of the murders with a little edgy goth style. It is a dark thriller with a dark main character. I liked the story when it was at the fair depicting the travelling family unit. It was also fun watching the character traits reveal themselves. Whilst I struggled with the final twist, I did enjoy exploring the motive for it - that was a nice addition which made for a different viewpoint. The crime genre is filled with stories like Jericho’s – one can take a peek at the works of Val McDermid, Stuart McBride, or Helen Fields to find stories overflowing with deeply-flawed yet righteous investigators, labyrinthian plots, and murders macabre enough to turn David Fincher’s stomach (there are, this reviewer must report, some in Killing Jericho, that wouldn’t have been out of place in his seminal Se7en). It’s a credit then that Hussey, drawing upon family experience within the GRT community and history, crafts a story with a unique premise and hook, steeped in Traveller lore, from a social group sorely unexplored and woefully misunderstood by the wider UK population.
