Jameela: All she's ever done is work hard, and try her best. Why won't life give her the one thing she really wants?

Little Shuggie Bain, bless him. He’s so sweet and so heartbreaking trying to look after his mum - it absolutely broke my heart – and I’m really excited about Douglas Stuart’s new book. Cox was born Sarah Joanne Cox on 13 December 1974, but later dropped the use of the letter 'h' from her first name. [2] Her parents lived in the village of Little Lever near Bolton, Greater Manchester, where she grew up on her father's farm. [3] She was the youngest of five children. Her parents separated when she was six or seven, after which she moved with her mother and a sister to another house in the same village. [4] Cox attended Smithills High School until the age of 16, and left Canon Slade School after her A-levels to pursue a career in modelling. She appeared in the music video for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's 1993 single " Everyday", [5] and on a controversial promotional poster for the 1995 video game Wipeout. [6] The inhabitants of the Inventor's Housing Estate keep themselves to themselves. But the neighbours come together to try out a new skill, under the watchful eye of their charismatic teacher, Sasha. Concealed heartaches and passions are uncovered, relationships shattered and formed and the possibility for transformation is revealed.A look at some of the titles Sara Cox discusses with guests on Between The Covers. Twelve brilliant books to set you up for a summer of reading So I love this book a lot. I read it by chance. It's nonfiction, but it has a real fiction-y feel. I think, for me, the big thing about this book was, it's the transformation of a woman... for herself, and then later for her children. And as a mother, I feel like so much of what I try to be is a good example to my kid, or I don't want to lose my temper in front of my kid, at a micro level. Well observed, and clearly drawing on the authors experience of presenting a pottery show, with one exception, the men do rather badly. It took me a while to realise the significance of the title, as most of the women are literally 'thrown' by their discoveries. In November 2006, Cox was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bolton for contributions to broadcasting. [54] Filmography [ edit ] Year

Sara Cox to contribute to a children’s story to promote a new charity directory number 118 520", Charities Aid Foundation, 19 February 2008. Retrieved 20 February 2005. I enjoyed recognising the places she mentioned and laughed at her joke reference to Little Lever as a ‘charming little hamlet’ and of course ‘the village’. Light and interesting autobiography, told in the unmistakable Lancashire tones of Sarah Cox about the first twenty odd years of her life. I really only know Sara Cox (and there's a reason why I left the h on in the first sentance - read to find out why) from the radio, first Radio 1, and these days with the drivetime slot on BBC Radio 2 (wish they'd given her the breakfast slot). Oh, and I'm sure I've seen her on a pottery competition on tv. Anyway... Sara Cox is Bolton born and bred and this is the story of her childhood with the book ending before she became the celebrity she is today.I read all the Judy Blume books and obviously The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole. Riders and Polo combined some fruity frolics and horses and that blew my 15-year-old mind. English lit A-level really brought Shakespeare to life – I read Romeo and Juliet with my sister before she went away to London, cuddled up on a top bunk. The inhabitants of the Inventor's Housing Estate keep themselves to themselves. There are the friendly 'Hellos' when commutes coincide and the odd cheeky eye roll when the wine bottles clank in number 7's wheelie bin, but it's not exactly Ramsay Street.

Sara Cox: ‘There were some tears, some “I can’t do this”’

On 17 February 2008, Cox presented her last show for six months before leaving for maternity leave to have her second child. Annie Mac presented the show during her absence until Cox's return in September 2008. Cox and Annie Mac both later covered for Jo Whiley who was on maternity leave between 29 September 2008 to 20 February 2009. [ citation needed] Following Whiley's return, Cox returned to weekends to present a Sunday mid-morning show, broadcasting between 10:00 and 13:00. Oti says: “In this book you learn skills about understanding and forgiveness … how success is not how much money you make but how kind you are, how grateful you are.” Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox has come a long way since the 1990s when Channel 4’s The Girlie Show made her one of the original ladettes. In 2019, her memoir Till the Cows Come Home: A Lancashire Childhood became a critical and commercial success; now comes a debut novel, Thrown. Tapping knowledge gleaned while presenting The Great Pottery Throw Down and grappling with themes from loneliness to infertility, it’s a funny, touching story of four very different women who meet at a ceramics class on a housing estate near Manchester. In August 2012, it was announced that Cox, Gemma Cairney, Huw Stephens, Jameela Jamil, Alice Levine, and Annie Mac would cover Fearne Cotton's show on BBC Radio 1 weekdays from 10:00 to 12:45, whilst Cotton was on maternity leave, until Cotton's return in September 2013. [13] [14] After Cotton's return, Cox did various cover shows; her final show for Radio 1 was on 17 February 2014. [ citation needed] BBC Radio 2 [ edit ]

In each episode, Sara is joined by four celebrities who are invited to bring in their favourite book to discuss. The guests also discuss a new release each week as well as a big-hitter.
