This is the most suspenseful book I have read in a very long time. Not only can you not figure out what is going to happen at the end, but every single chapter contains new surprises. If you are looking for the perfect book to take you away from everything else in your life, this is it. I couldn't focus on anything else while reading "Six Years." Coben was born into a Jewish family in Newark, New Jersey, and was raised in Livingston, [3] where he graduated from Livingston High School, with his childhood friend, future governor Chris Christie. Summary and reviews of Six Years by Harlan Coben - BookBrowse

The worst thing, and what makes this entire novel unbelievable, is that this guy had a 3-month fling with a woman 6 years ago, and is hell bent on finding her because the man she assumed to be her husband was murdered. He continues in his ridiculous pursuit after running into a corrupt police force, being beaten into unconsciousness and barely escaping with his life, being kidnapped by the mafia, killing a mobster hitman and barely escaping with his life, going after a guy in the mafia, hunting down this woman's sister and mother, finding out that his best friend is involved in the conspiracy and says he will kill him if he goes any further, and on and on and on.Jake Fischer and Natalie Avery meet while both on retreats in Vermont. They fall in love. At the end of the summer, Jake receives a wedding invite from Natalie since she is marrying someone else. She makes Jake promise to leave them alone. He does. For Six Years. Then he sees an obit for her husband. Well, he did promise to leave them alone, but there is no more them. He heads down to go to Todd's funeral and this is when everything gets really weird. Just when it seems as though things can’t possibly get any worse than they already have, Marc receives a ransom note with a chilling message: I was surprised by how well the first person POV worked for this book. Where sometimes it can come across as a little one-sided and make the book feel superficial, this time I appreciated it. This POV allowed me to get inside the head of the main character and get to know him, which this made me feel almost like I was thinking through his mind as well and trying to solve the mystery right along with him. Auch der Schreibstil hat mir gut gefallen. Wir lesen die Geschichte aus der Sicht von Jake, so dass wir ihn hautnah bei seiner Suche begleiten und seine Gefühle teilen können.

Six Years by Harlan Coben Detailed Review Summary of Six Years by Harlan Coben

I like Mr. Coben’s books especially his stand-alones. This is in part because, in some ways, he and I live in the same world. We’re both in our early 50’s, white, married to physicians, graduates of well-known colleges, parents of four kids, and, yes, privileged. The characters in his books have decidedly first-world problems; the bad things that happen to his characters are often extreme versions of things I fret about: the safety of teenagers, the dangers internet exposure can bring, the secrets that splinter seemingly secure relationships. His books espouse the view that life’s greatest rewards are found in connections with others, especially those forged with old friends and family. This works for me. Signs that Myron was a gifted basketball player were evident as early as the 6th grade, and he went on to be drafted by the Boston Celtics in the first round, until he shattered his knee during a preseason game against Washington Bullets—ending his career. I realized I actually missed this-reading a plain ole mystery thriller like I used to in the good old days when the only authors I knew were James Patterson, Dan Brown, John Grisham and David Baldacci. Add in Jude Deveraux and Danielle Steel even though these last two are romance writers. Lol. Mr. Coben’s style though is up-to-date. He has certainly kept up with the times because his narrative is relatable, believable (with the exception of that part where the hero dials certain phone numbers by heart-lol!) and hilarious. Take a peek.Harlan Coben is an American writer of mystery novels and thrillers. The plots of his novels often involve the resurfacing of unresolved or misinterpreted events in the past, murders, or fatal accidents and have multiple twists. Among his novels are two series, each involving the same protagonist set in and around New York and New Jersey; some characters appear in both. With the school year almost over, and kids making the dangerous mistake of drinking and driving as they await their college acceptances letters, Myron is determined to ensure the safety of his friend’s children. He thus makes two neighborhood girls give their word to call him should they ever find themselves in a dilemma, and are afraid to call their parents. His sister disappeared twenty years earlier when she walked into the woods one night, never to be seen again. But when a homicide victim—a boy who vanished along with Paul's sister—is discovered, the evidence links him to the disappearance.
