Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is the RTS videogame adaptation of Games Workshop’s classic tabletop game, pitting the Chaos, Imperium, Eldar, and Orks against each other in visceral space-battles. Today I’m gonna do an unboxing and review of Crypt Hunters, one of the games in the third wave of retail exclusive Warhammer board games, along with Space Marine Adventures: Rise of the Orks and Blitz Bowl Season 2. Crypt Hunters is a two-player game that pits three Stormcast and their trusty Gryph-hound against a wave of Chainrasps as they explore the Ten Thousand Tombs for an arcane relic. The game is essentially a “reskin” of the infamous Lost Patrol game, so let’s see if this game improves the notoriously hard difficulty. Alternatively, if you want to go for a more narrative spin, you can base your choice of tactics on your Chapter’s history in the lore (or one you’ve created for them). The Scythes of the Emperor, for example, were nearly annihilated by Hive Fleet Kraken during the Second Tyrannic War and swore vengeance against them. Preferred Enemy (choosing Tyranids as the keyword) would, therefore, be a great option, as would Indomitable for the stoic determination they showed when faced with the numberless hordes of Tyranids.
