Place strips of bacon onto the griddle and cook for 5 minutes. (Optional – Place griddle bacon press on top of the bacon to keep them flat). Joe began experimenting with the idea of using wood pellets to fuel a grill, and by 1985, he had developed his first prototype. The grill was a simple, barrel-shaped design that used a motorized auger to feed wood pellets into a firebox. The result was a consistent, clean-burning flame that produced a rich smoky flavor in the food. Meater thermometer– a fancy wireless thermometer that connects to a phone app – gifted to me from a Traeger partnership. Having total control over your Traeger BBQ using a smartphone app means that you will soon be giving your local kebabie a run for their money. In terms of cost, Traeger pellets are generally more expensive than traditional charcoal or propane. However, many people find that the convenience and quality of Traeger pellets make them well worth the extra cost. Additionally, Traeger pellets are available in a variety of bag sizes, so you can choose the size that’s right for your needs and budget.

Traeger reached out to see if we would be interested in sharing a first look with our audience and we of course obliged. Traeger Pellet Grills have been a mainstay in the world of outdoor cooking for over three decades. The company’s history is a testament to the ingenuity and innovation of its founder, Joe Traeger, and his family. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the history of Traeger Pellet Grills and explore how they became the leading name in wood pellet grills. More times than not, I only used one of the side tables when setting down food and tools. Each side area is substantial and can fit three or four plates at a time. For instance, when I made bacon and eggs one morning, the right side surface held all the things I needed. I didn't even lift the left side into place. Of course, there are other pellet smokers out there at a cheaper price point. However, at Hot Box, we are firm believers that you get what you pay for, Traeger grills are no exception to this rule. One thing I noticed while cooking on this griddle is that because the grease port is right in the front and the chamber is all closed there is a little bit of a heat exhaust coming right out of this port so when you’re cooking around it you’re just gonna have to work on the left hand side of it or on the right hand side of it. And of course, I really appreciate the propane fuel indicator lights. It’s a vast improvement over the lift-and-jiggle method I would otherwise apply to the tank. An orange indicator shows when you have ignition; (photo/Traeger) Even heat distribution– The U-burner design on the burners resulted in the most consistent temperature of any griddle I’ve cooked on.

Further, at Hot Box ®, we have gone to the trouble of setting out which accessories relate to which model of Traeger Grill. We like to make life easy for our customers! Underneath the cooking surface, there are three distinct areas divided by insulated walls. The goal here is to be able to use high heat in one-third of the flat top without it spreading to the neighboring spot. The U-burners are also supposed to heat more evenly. I didn't have any problem cooking across the entire cooking surface, and I didn't notice any unheated areas. These rubs were made especially for griddle recipes, though they are great options for use with pellet grill recipes, and other rubs are great options for griddle recipes too.The spaciousness provided by these side shelves is impressive too. With enough room to accommodate all your grilling necessities like spatulas, brushes, marinades, and even paper towels if needed, you won’t have to worry about running out of space anytime soon. The square inches available on these shelves ensure that you have plenty of room to work with while maintaining an organized setup.
