OSD Options - There are many on screen display options to change the way you use your monitor. Even an FPS counter!

Yes, there are LCD panels that deliver slightly less motion blur. But what MSI has achieved with VA panel tech here is impressive. There’s also a zero latency mode, but we found little subjective evidence of lag operating in standard mode. MSI has come up with a very nice overall feature set. The core specifications, including the superwide 1440p resolution and 144Hz refresh are right at the sweet spot for high-end gaming right now, while the extras including the fancy RGB LED lighting and USB-C connectivity may sweeten the deal depending on your needs and preferences. TL;DR: 240Hz is both a curse and a blessing. You're spending extra for a niche feature you might not even be able to use. Make really sure that you really need the 240Hz, because most people would be better off with 144Hz + 1ms to up the display specs in other ways (picture quality like IPS or resolution like 2K) Just make sure you don't settle with 60Hz unless you're going for 4K.Use it right, congratulations on your lamborghini. It'll spoil you and you'll wonder how 60Hz was ever enough.

TN Display - My daughter pointed out that if sitting too low or at an angle, the screen becomes harder to see. Ideally you want to be looking straight at the screen. You the screen doesn't fade when looking at it from slight angles. So I bought this monitor before returning it with great excitement and high hopes but unfortunately it was not meant to be. Quite a few of the points I am going to mention are obvious, however these are my (personal) honest thoughts*

Pro Tip: Run those games and display the FPS to see if your system can handle this. If you aren't getting 180+ fps, no need to get a 240Hz, just get a 144Hz monitor with 1ms response time. It makes for punchier colours and better contrast than the IPS alternative and in this implementation comes with little to no downside in terms of response and input lag. We’d rate that as a win. That’s not to say the Alienware AW2720HF is bad when playing other games or outside of games. In Metro Exodus we’re plenty pleased with the colors (with 99% coverage of sRGB), responsiveness, and contrast of the display. The visual quality holds up in movies as well, where we’re even more appreciative of the IPS panel’s wide viewing angles and anti-glare coating. We can easily see the screen from wherever we’re lounging.

Stand is solid, very firm and doesn't wobble the screen even if the desk shakes. There is also a convenient cable management tunnel within the stand The final really significant feature from an image quality perspective is HDR400 certification. It’s the very lowest level of HDR support and doesn’t include local dimming. It also means the MSI Optix MPG341CQR is capable of 400 nits brightness, which is punchy by conventional terms but nowhere near the 600 or 1,000 nits produced by what we would class as true HDR displays.

MSI goes for VA rather than IPS panel tech for its hot new 34-inch gaming monitor

Different to the models sold in the US? Every review I've seen shows an LED light in the top rear part of the monitor. This has no lighting. It's going to blow your mind away. As did mine. Yes there is a big difference between 60Hz. While the difference isn't as big as 60->100/144 as it is to 100/144 -> 240, it is very noticeable. Elsewhere, you get excellent connectivity in the form of DisplayPort, HDMI and USB-C interfaces.MSI has also fitted the Optix MPG341CQR with a camera in its lower bezel. This monitor is also limited to 1080p. Not something you'd want to be doing photoshop editing with or daily driver for work.

I actively switch away from this monitor to my primary monitor unless I am playing these games. Chances are, even if you own an RTX 2080 Ti, you would too. What to make of MSI’s new Optix MPG341CQR? In a gaming monitor market that’s very crowded, it does an excellent job of standing out. The use of VA rather than IPS panel technology is a net plus in terms of image quality.
