Description

Other rums produced include Barceló Premium Blend 30 Aniv., Platinum, Gran Añejo, Añejo, Dorado, Blanco and Barceló Cream. The distillery was founded by Andres Brugal Montaner. Originally Spanish, he moved his family to the Dominican. He began experimenting with distillation and cane juice while still in Cuba, though, giving him some experience to build on. He opened the distillery almost immediately after settling in the Dominican Republic in 1888. The third of these limited bottlings is Barceló Imperial Mizunara Cask, which is a result of aging the reserves of the brand’s most prized rums in oak barrels with different degrees of toast, carefully selected by Galíndez. The first sips bring forward a robust oakiness combined with impressions of dark brown sugar, vanilla, spices (nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon) and pipe tobacco. Those fresh copper pennies I noticed on the nose seem to have found expression as a sort of metallic coppery flavour (pop a penny in your mouth and you’ll know what I mean). I taste marzipan as well as canned apricots, and perhaps even a little orange marmalade as well. Bits of cola and dark chocolate complete the flavour profile which is much much better than I remember. In the Throat 13/15

Vizcaya represents a full product line from Oliver & Oliver, naming this expression after the impressive age of the spirit. It’s aged for an average of 18-21 years in bourbon barrels and is made from fresh cane juice instead of molasses. The nose is sweet and inviting with notes of toasted oak and creme brulee. The palate is initially sweet which leads to a little oiliness. In the middle, you’ll find notes of traditional Trinidad rum with mineral notes and flavors of vanilla, nutmeg, and butterscotch. The mouthfeel is thin and easy to sip. 3. Ron Barcelo Gran Anejo The series is a fine collection of reserves aged for an extended time in barrels from different latitudes, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to continue innovating, and offering consumers new and fascinating sensory experiences. Barcelo Imperial is sold in an open front cardboard box display which highlights the bottle within. It is a large flask style bottle which oozes elegance and style. A solid dense cork topper completes the bottle design and gives the rum a nnice ‘wow’ factor.

BARCELÓ IMPERIAL

The profile on this rum is complex, likely a result of the careful and deliberate aging process. The sugar cane is harvested from local plantations before being double-distilled in their copper stills. Ron Barceló and its Rare Blends Collection dare spirits connoisseurs to live beyond the ordinary. The brand’s portfolio includes the Barceló Porto Cask, Maple Cask, and Mizunara Cask This one-of-a-kind rum, tailored for the most discerning palates, has aromas of figs and wild fruit jams that blend perfectly with the strong notes of butterscotch, dried cherries and smoked wood.

Rub the cut edge of the orange peel over the rim of the glass and twist it over the drink. (This will release the oil from the orange zest into the drink) In the nose dark and deep. At the bottom dark wood with caramel toffee sweets on top. The topping is cocoa and tart spices, very multidimensional. Výraznější dochuť by z něj udělala supernovu...

(A Website for Spirited Reviews)

The liquid delivers aromas of melted caramel, plum, vanilla, and maple honey. The brand has used maple wood and an artisanal distillation process to offer rare sensations. The nose here is quite complex with many different aromas to navigate. First, you find notes of wood and spice soon followed by almond and butterscotch. Leave it to breathe for a moment and you’ll find that notes of vanilla, banana peel, and oranges emerge. Barceló was founded in 1930 by Julian Barceló. During the 1980´s the brand established itself as a leader in the rum market and in 1992 started exporting to 10 countries. In 2001 a state of the art rum factory was built and today Barceló Rum is sold in over 40 countries. The brand elevates Dominican rum to the highest level, always preserving the seal of quality that has been a hallmark of the company for almost 100 years. This ultra-premium rum range includes Barceló Imperial Porto Cask, Barceló Imperial Mizunara Cask, and Barceló Imperial Maple Cask.
