Lucy Score is an instant #1 New York Times bestselling author. She grew up in a literary family who insisted that the dinner table was for reading and earned a degree in journalism. The first problem is that the main characters read decades younger than their stated ages. They're both immature and rootless in ways that just don't fit people past their mid-thirties (he's in his forties, for heaven's sake!). It wasn't hard for me to just subtract a decade (and some) in my head, so this wasn't that big a barrier. I’ve never been around someone who always believed that things would work out. I hope I didn’t break that because your hopeful heart is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever known. hate to love and cute banter where the MCs are seconds away from either killing each other or taking each others clothes off? ✓ There are some brilliantly written laugh out loud scenes. I love this author's wit and she writes comedy incredibly well.

I got her fired. Okay, so I’d had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there’s nothing innocent about Ally Morales. She proves that the first day at her new job… in my office… after being hired by my mother. see what i mean? i don't mind this in other books but it was just sooo excessive here since 95% of his inner monologue in the first half revolved around him wanting to have sex with Ally but can't do anything about it so he just "uses" his hand every night. So his entire resistance to Ally is stupid, nonsensical, and completely impossible in an actual person living an actual life. Oh my God. Daaaaad. I have more respect for my body than the rest of the girls in my class combined,” she assured him. “Can we please talk about literally anything else?” I shook my head, digging my nails into my palms because this beautiful, perfect man deserved a reprieve from crazy wife tears. “Not this house. You. You are my dream.”I hate how much I want you,” he whispered brokenly, nuzzling at the curves, nipping at the pasties. “I despise the fact that I can’t think of anything else but you.”

The characters themselves were great. Nothing I haven’t seen before because I mean, there are a LOT of romance books that take place at the office of a fashion magazine and there’s only so many things you can do, but like I said, this book super entertaining and I definitely think that was because of how well-written the characters were. I found Dom behind his desk in our office. He was in sweatpants and a t-shirt that showed off his unfairly fine form. His hair had started to go gray, and I was obsessed with the deepening crinkles in the corners of his eyes. Fifty-five looked good on the man. STARS!! Your hopeful heart is the most beautiful thing I've ever known. How is this my first book by Lucy Score? How?! I guess because I don't read many rom-com's . . . but this one pushed ALL the right buttons for me. I LOVED EVERY WORD OF IT!! They knew vaguely of Paul Russo. That they had a grandfather out there who wasn’t a part of their lives. And not just because he went to jail. Our kids understood that blood didn’t make a family.Oh, Dom.” I shook my head, eyes glistening. I’d cried a lot the last few months. Hormones and whatnot. But this feeling was something altogether different. Ally meets Dom in a very unique way. He gets her fired after she writes something inappropriate on his pizza. Ally's life hasn't been easy as of late and this was the last straw. Although it was awful at the time, it was the best thing that could have happened to her as Dom's mom gave her a job that helps her out so much. But you know what, I honestly didn’t mind that because the plot itself was so entertaining and fulfilling. My favourite thing ever is when you actually feel like the couple will last after the book finishes because their relationship faced reasonable trials and whatnot, and the various things that happened in this book did a great job convincing me of this couple. My kids were making memories too, and sometimes that involved falling down and ruining nice things.
