Mozzarella Pearl Eyeballs - Mozzarella pearls are available in most large supermarkets, and their ready-made ball shape makes them the perfect instant edible eyeball! Dot with edible marker or add a tiny circle of cucumber skin to turn them into eyeballs. Add to savoury dishes such as soup or pasta or serve up in a bowl along with cherry tomatoes to make an instant and gory caprese salad for a Halloween party. For details of my eyeball soup below see the original blog post here, and for the eyeball pasta see my original blog post here. You first make a royal icing by whisking egg white and icing sugar really well with a hand mixer. It should be whipped until they form soft peaks and become a little chewy. Then you can adjust the consistency with a little water so that it becomes so soft that it can be piped out and make a smooth hemisphere without making peaks on the surface. Starch – Cornstarch (corn flour in the UK) is cheap and accessible. I’ve also made these with tapioca starch. Tapioca is a great option if you’d like a grain free option. Cheddar Cheese Eyes - One of the most simple ways to add edible eyes to a sandwich or other savoury food is to cut ovals or circles from cheddar cheese (or other hard cheese) using mini bento cutters and dot them with food colouring or an edible marker pen. For full details of the spider bread roll below see the original blog post here.

Sweet (Candy) Eyes - At this time of year it's easy to find fun eyeball shaped sweets - I found the jelly eyes below in our pound shop, and I've also seen lots of chocolate eyeballs around. With a bit of imagination you can find eyes in other sweets too, from fried eggs, dolly mixtures and smarties to chocolate buttons and flying saucers - anything round would work! The eyes can be dried at room temperature for 24 hours or in the oven at low temperature in an hour or so. Caramel syrup: I used normal ice cream caramel syrup, but you can use whatever type of caramel sauce you might have on hand. Halloween-themed Candy: Hershey’s tombstone chocolate bars and Reese’s pumpkins and ghosts add extra Halloween spirit to the bark. Seasonal candy sprinkles and Halloween novelty items like edible bones and candy corn also add some festive fun. Using a teaspoon, fill your squeezy bottle with icing. Squeezing gently, carefully drop the icing in rows onto the prepared baking trays, taking care to leave a gap between each drop so that they don't run together. I had a few run into each other, so after that increased the distance between them slightly. This may take a bit of trial and error, but don't worry too much about getting them all a uniform size, I deliberately tried various sizes out, even making a few jumbo ones when I got bored! I thought it would be great to have a range of sizes, it adds to the charm! Refill the bottle with icing when necessary.

Halloween Bark (Chocolate Boo Bark) - Princess Pinky Girl Halloween Bark (Chocolate Boo Bark) - Princess Pinky Girl

Line each cookie sheet with parchment paper. This will ensure your eyes come off when they completely dry.The eyes are made with royal icing. It dries hard and is perfect for making candy eyeballs. I like using a store bought royal icing mix . You just add water. But it is also easy to make yourself. Ingredients A double boiler uses a small amount of water in a small saucepan/pot, with a larger glass or metal bowl on top. The boiling water will heat up the bowl slowly, so that chocolate can be easily melted in the top bowl, with no danger of burning. It’s the easiest way to melt chocolate, especially for those of us that struggle to melt chocolate in the microwave. Vanilla or Almond Extract (optional)– These are simply optional flavours to make the eyes taste a little more interesting.

It is both easy and fun to make eyeballs for cakes yourself. You only need three ingredients + possibly a little water. Semi-sweet chocolate chips: You could try this with milk or dark chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or butterscotch chips. Use whatever is your favorite flavor! To Store: Once thechocolateis set completely and broken into pieces, store your Halloween candy bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. If you prefer to leave theHalloween candy bark on the counterat room temperature it will last for about 5 days.

📖 Recipe

Let Them Dry– These candy monster eyeballs will need to dry for a full 24 hours before they’ll be ready to use. It only takes minutes to make this easy Halloween dessert –no baking or fancy equipment required. I like to decorate my bark with candies that are colorful and have different flavors and textures. And I especially love that I can feed a large group of costumed kids by using my leftover candy. Scary never tasted so sweet! Why We Love This Halloween Bark Recipe Leave the eyes somewhere to dry where they won't be in the way and let them air dry at least 24 hours until fully hard. Once set, you can carefully remove the eyes from the baking sheet and transfer to an airtight container or bag and store until needed. They will keep for months.

Homemade Candy Eyeballs - The Frozen Biscuit

Powder Sugar (Icing Sugar)– This makes up the bulk of the google eyes. If your sugar is lumpy, sift out the lumps before mixing to ensure you end up with a smooth icing. The chocolate will start melting relatively fast once it’s at room temperature. Place it on cold plates, or make sure it is in a relatively cool place, as you are serving.

You can use the same recipe to make edible eyebrows, lips, or other fun cake ornaments that you can use to decorate your Halloween cakes. Ingredient notes Reese’s: Substitute Reese’s Pieces instead to skip the need to chop up the cups. This can be especially helpful if you have an issue with melty Reese’s cups and don’t have time to cool or freeze them to make them easier to chop.
