The third software feature that we liked is the smooth skin feature, which is a personal opinion and some might not really want to use it, while taking selfies. The beautification that is seen on the smartphones would work on the skin smoothening, and that is something similar offered here. To even begin to try you'd have to turn off the mirrorless camera every time you took a picture. How convenient. Not! The 63-zone dual layer metering sensor is the same in both cameras and the Evaluative, Partial, Spot and Centre-weighted metering modes are unchanged. The shutter speed range on both cameras goes from 30-1/4,000sec plus B, and both the EOS 250D and EOS 200D have a pop-up flash with a Guide Number of 9.8m at ISO 100. This is the big one. Where the existing EOS 200D can capture full HD video at up to 60/50 frames per second, the EOS 250D embraces the 4K revolution to bring 4K video capture at up to 25/24fps. We’re used to seeing this on mirrorless cameras, but it’s the first time we’ve seen 4K on a low-cost DSLR. 2. Live view autofocus

Canon EOS 200D II Review, Pros and Cons - Budget 4K DSLR Camera Canon EOS 200D II Review, Pros and Cons - Budget 4K DSLR Camera

The variangle LCD screen here is a touchscreen display and the option to angle it at your wish is the best one for vloggers. The only issue with it is that we felt it could get loosened with vigorous use, otherwise there are many uses-cases for the movable LCD screen, as you won’t have to rely on an external monitor when facing the camera to see how good the frame view is. A single lens reflex camera uses a mirror in front of the film to reflect the view through the lens up into an optical viewfinder. When you press the shutter release, in addition to the shutter opening up briefly, the mirror flips up out of the way for an instant. A DSLR is the same, except a sensor is used instead of film. With the standard lens, battery and card in place, the Canon EOS 200D Mark II weighed just 663 grams. It really feels light in the hand. My Panasonic GH4 – with a smaller Micro Four-Thirds sensor – by contrast, is just about 800 grams. It didn’t feel less sturdy for all of that. The right hand bump seemed the right depth for my fingers, while a sculpted channel on the rear guided my thumb between several buttons such that I didn’t accidentally press them.Just about everything in that list is Canon's latest and greatest, and the external microphone input is a nice extra. The one feature that's not new is the 9-point autofocus system that you'll use when shooting through the viewfinder – it's identical to what's found the original SL1, which is over four years old. You'll get a much better focusing experience by shooting in live view, which uses Canon's excellent Dual Pixel AF technology. Compared to... One thing that Canon has made sure that the millenials like here is the connectivity options that are included in the camera. The one-touch Wi-Fi button has to be configured for once and then it works well in helping connect and share the captured footage on social media, and those selfies won’t need a lot of editing and would be good to share directly. Apart from that, there is also Bluetooth, and the smartphone connectivity through Canon Camera Control app is excellent, though not really different from the ones offered from the other brands. The app helps manually set the shutter speed, self timer, focus, and other options while you are away from the camera and cannot reach the dials directly. But that wasn’t because it had run out of power. No, the 64GB SDXC card was full. Over the course of around three weeks, I had taken 7,226 photos on one battery charge. The Canon EOS 200D II gets its power from the new DIGIC 8 processor, but there’s a lot more up its sleeve. Let’s talk about it in the review below. Canon EOS 200D II Specifications The main consumption is the Live View, meaning that sensor is continually On, drawing power, exposing and CPU is constantly compressing a video feed from the sensor. Enable the Live View on DSLR and their battery times are worse than mirrorless.

Canon EOS 200D MK II Kit [18-55 STM], DSLR Camera, Wi-Fi

As with the rest of the industry, Canon has in the last couple of years been increasingly leaning towards mirrorless. That includes the forthcoming Canon EOS R5 and R6, both professional level full-frame mirrorless models.

First time incorporated into an EOS DLSR, Creative Assist and Smooth Skin feature would allow you to achieve desired effects on your photos and easily take picture perfect selfies. Stay connected to the camera with the Bluetooth Low Energy connection and send images to your mobile devices via Wi-Fi as you shoot for ease of sharing. Michael can manual focus his lens and look through the viewfinder and see his results while the power is off. Canon had the EOS 200D budget DSLR in the market already, and frankly, it was a go-to choice over some other for its obvious reasons, starting with the ease of use and the functionality along with the appreciable capture performance. Come April 2019, the company has come up with its successor. A full upgrade named the Canon EOS 200D II. Yes, the addition of Roman II is going to differentiate the cameras by the names, but with the features added, this is quite a big upgrade and thus, the pricing isn’t going to keep the camera in the entry-level range.

The sensor feeding the monitor is APS-C in size. Canon’s APS-C is very slightly smaller – 22.5 × 15mm versus 24 × 16mm – than those in some other brands, but I doubt it makes any kind of significant difference. This one has a resolution of 24 megapixels – the images are 6,000 by 4,000 pixels and average 10MB in size for JPEGs at the highest quality setting, and 25MB to 30MB for RAW images. Now, let's take a look at how the specs compare between the the SL2 and the peers mentioned a few paragraphs earlier.Remember, all of these are hand-held. The sharpness is a testament to the effectiveness of the OIS. Let’s face it, mirrorless does have real advantages. There’s less camera shake when taking photos, since there’s no need to flip the mirror out of the way. Things are somewhat simpler. The lens can be closer to the sensor, allowing more optical design possibilities. The viewfinder – because it’s really just a mini-screen showing what the sensor is seeing – shows 100% of the scene, not a smaller central section. And you can use the rear monitor for framing your shots. This is quietly hidden away in the specs sheets, but the EOS 250D offers a massive increase in battery life in regular viewfinder shooting, going up from a reasonable 650 shots in the EOS 200D to an excellent 1,070 shots in the new model. In live view the gain is much smaller, increasing from 260 shots to 320, but this shows the much heavier power drain of digital displays – and why people still choose DSLRs when so many pundits claim mirrorless is the future! 5. Creative Assist and Guided UI

Whichever one you go for, while it's cheaper to buy these cameras body-only, we'd always recommend paying just a little extra to get them with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM kit lens.

How customers rate the EOS 200D Mark II

But for anyone who is keen to explore video and stills together, and is still learning about photography and its potential, the EOS 250D/Rebel SL3 is the better camera. It’s better for video, better for live view operation and better for helping you learn the basics. If that sounds like you, then we think it’s worth the extra. Michael can manually zoom his lens and look through the viewfinder and see the refults while the power is off. Camera processors sound like pretty boring things, but they’re central to the camera’s features and operational performance, and in the EOS 250D Canon has upgraded the processor to a DIGIC 8, and this appears to be behind many of the new camera’s improvements… including battery life. 4. Battery life Now, onto the video recording part. While there is 4K video recording possible with the Canon EOS 200D II, it is not the smoothest and the footage is at 25p at max. You’ll either have to keep the camera stable on a tripod or use one of those DSLR gimbals, as there is no stabilizer except the lens-shift one, which doesn’t give out the desired results, while with Full HD recording, we found it to be better and there was 60p option for 1080p videos when the file format was changed.
