We are fortunate to have so many beautiful buildings, green spaces, excellent schools and shopping areas that the MONOPOLY makers will be spoilt for choice. To be honoured by MONOPOLY in this way is such a huge compliment to our lovely town, it will really put High Wycombe on the map, and remind people what a fabulous town and heritage we boasthere”. We couldn’t be more excited to hear this great news for High Wycombe and are delighted to have won the opportunity to be part of the MONOPOLY family. All told, the closure of Murrays meant a very sad loss to the town of an innovative, independent department store. It was a true Icon.

Bosses of the world’s most famous board game have fallen in love with High Wycombe that today have announced it has landed the honour of its very own official game – after seeing off 24 other places across the globe, some A-List on glam and glitz

Since this was not overtly Nazi-influenced it has continued to form the base for Monopoly games used in the Netherlands up to the present. In the Nazi-occupied Netherlands the German authorities saw that the Dutch people were using British or American versions of Monopoly so developed a version with Dutch locations. For example, the choreographer of the Monopoly piece at the launch event, who has appeared in lead roles in pantomimes at the Wycombe Swan, joined us shortly after graduating, and her youngest daughter, now 18, is taking part in the performance at the Launch Event. The building required extensive refurbishment before it was ready as a family home and stage school. Perhaps though most special this year is the 30th anniversary of the Wycombe Swan, in which we have three routines to help the celebration.” We also have pupils who have become famous, for example James Corden returned to open our new studios in Bridge Street.”

The doors will officially open at 09:00 on the 12 th December 2020 and customers are invited in on the opening day to explore the new store and collect a complimentary memento. Red roses and chocolates were handed out to shoppers in High Wycombe town centre, as well as signed Monopoly money by Mr Monopoly to celebrate.
