The Ingredient List: Certain lube ingredients are known to cause vaginal irritation and/or infections—including glycerin, nonoxynol-9, and propylene glycol—so these are best avoided. You’ll also want to stay away from parabens (i.e. any ingredient with a name ending in -paraben), which have been shown to disrupt the endocrine system. Finally, steer clear of any lube containing sugar or sucralose, unless you want a hell of a yeast infection. Before play, take out two or three of the little 2-oz bottles of J-lube and defrost them in a sink full of hot water. Having the lube slightly warm is rather pleasant...

Use J-lube in moderation: using too much J-lube can lead to discomfort and irritation. Alternative ways to use J-lube J-lube is a versatile and cost-effective option for personal lubrication, but it’s important to take necessary precautions and use it in moderation. J-Lube is two things; a polymer (polyethylene oxide) and a dispersing agent (sucrose). The real work is done by the polymer, the dispersal agent is just there to make it easier to measure out and mix. You’d be using a mere 25% of what you normally use if there were no dispersing agent, and given how J-lube likes to clump when it gets wet, if you didn’t have the dispersing agent it would turn into one big clump when it hit the water. So to summarize, yes it does work. However, other offerings seem to work better, but a thinner mixture of J-Lube that didn’t coat so heavily might work well enough. Now that you have your ingredients, let’s get started on making your own J-lube. Follow these simple steps:Use water-based lubricants only: oil-based lubricants can damage condoms and increase the risk of infections. Over my years of playing, I have found salt to be too inconvenient to have around. Especially if I’m washing up in the shower. I have played with a few different soaps to see what cleans J-Lube off the fastest, and have I found that the fastest cleaners are also the ones you’d least want to use on your intimate bits. Case and point, the fastest cleaner I have found is a highly abrasive hand cleaner used for washing up after working with greasy machinery. This, of course, would be extremely painful to use on your sensitive parts, but for cleaning just your hands, it’s the best. In the search for the ideal middle ground, I have (comfortably) settled on Doctor Bronner’s Magic Soaps in the liquid form. It never seems to take any more than two good soapy passes to get all the slime off. Just pour the liquid soap into your hands and wash up the affected parts. Don’t use a washcloth or anything like that until after you’ve used your hands to get the lubricant off. The soap doesn’t leave any oily residue, so you’ll know exactly when the lube is gone. Salt does clean up faster, but it’s inconvenient and it will rapidly draw your attention to any small cuts on the surface of your skin. Brown, J., et al. (2013). Intravaginal practices and risk of bacterial vaginosis and candidiasis infection among a cohort of women in the United States [Abstract]. To ensure your J-lube stays fresh and effective, it’s important to store it properly. Keep it in a cool, dry place and avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight. What are the risks of using lube?

Slippery floors: Excess lube on floors can create a slipping hazard, which can lead to falls and injuries. And I have no idea why the method I was struggling with is so popular, because I found it slow, painstaking and fussy. The common method I'm referring to is to use a regular kitchen mixer in a microwave safe bowl, alternately mixing and nuking the J-Lube to remove lumps and bumps. As indicated above, I used that method exactly once. It was long, tedious, and very, very messy compared to R.'s method, which takes me literally all of 5-10 minutes, including decanting the J-Lube and washing, drying, and stowing away the immersion blender. Vaginal irritation: Some lubricants may contain ingredients that can irritate the vagina or lead to infections such as yeast infections.

That’s it! You can find J-lube powder at most pet stores or online. How to make J lube recipe from it’s Ingredients J-Lube, in a sense, takes its cues on how it functions directly from nature. What’s one lubricant naturally made by the human body? Mucus, also affectionally called “snot.” Which, by the way, is basically a bunch of cells (which aren’t all that unlike the polymer in J-Lube) suspended in water. There are some salts in there as well, but that’s sort of beside the point for the moment. The main thing is, it’s a mixture very similar to J-Lube in how it functions, which is one of the reasons why J-Lube does its job so well. It mimics the same lubricants that a human body produces, which are designed to make the body slippery. When it comes to J-Lube, most folks will tell you that it’s a pain in the butt to mix and shouldn’t be kept around for very long. And I’m sure that would be true if you were to mix it without taking proper precautions for cleaning and sterilization of your containers, but if you take care when mixing it, it goes a great deal more smoothly than others would have you believe. For all practical purposes, there are two ways of mixing J-Lube. Either make it just before using it or prepare some in advance to have ready to go. Plain yogurt could be a useful alternative lubricant. Anecdotal evidence suggests it does not dry out, has a suitable consistency, and is relatively cheap. Because J-Lube has a limited lifespan, I don't keep it in the shower to lube up my shower shot. Instead, I use a product called J-Jelly, which is made by the same company as J-Lube. J-Jelly is sort of a premixed, stabilized version of J-Lube. I buy both J-Lube and J-Jelly from NASCO Farm & Ranch Supplies, where historically I've found the cheapest prices for both products. I do NOT recommend buying these products at a leather store, because they'll usually charge at least twice what NASCO does.

Now that you have sufficiently boiled and stirred your J-Lube to the point that it is smooth and uniformly mixed let it cool for a little while (not too long though, you want it to still be hot) and then add the one fluid ounce of General Lubricant. Stir this in thoroughly. The General Lubricant adds body and durability to the J-Lube; it also adds a small amount of preservative and seems to make it easier to clean as well. After adding and fully mixing in set the entire thing aside and allow it to cool to the point where you can safely handle it. Update: there have been rumors of J-lube causing a fatality when a perforation happened and J-lube entering the abdominal cavity. It is reported to have caused a reaction that caused death. I've not been able to substantiate any of this. J-lube's sugar origin may be the root of it as bacteria feed on it.
