Description

In their earliest incarnations, Necrons were a simpler force, consisting primarily of robots clad in metal bodies with little adornment. As the faction has been revised, they’ve become more elaborate, and subfactions that call for different color schemes have emerged, creating a good deal of variety in the way you can paint them. Monolith - Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum

The bases of my necrons are quite simple, just Vallejo Grey Sand with a coat of Baneblade followed by a wash of Darkoath and drybrush of rakarth. And that’s the finished Necron Warrior! This was pretty fast and easy to do, and I’m very happy with the result. Despite using bright colors, they come across appropriately menacing, which is the goal. Use pure Scale 75 Peridot Alchemy as an edge highlight. For reflex highlights, mix in a little bit of Scale 75 Speed Metal or White Alchemy Phaeron ( Szarekh • Imotekh the Stormlord) • Overlord ( Anrakyr the Traveler • Trazyn the Infinite • Nemesor Zahndrekh) • Lord ( Vargard Obyron • Lokhust Lord • Flayer King • Skorpekh Lord) • Royal Warden Step 4: The chest emblem gets painted Balthasar Gold. Step 5: Time to wash everything. Nuln OIl on the Leadbelcher parts, Carroburg Crimson on the Red, Agrax Earthshade on the gold, Contrast Gryph-Hound Orange on the orange parts.

If every model in an INFANTRY unit is on or in an Area Terrain feature with this trait, then it can either Hold Steady or it can Set to Defend (see below) when an enemy unit declares a charge against it. Doomsday Phalanx - To date, there have been no confirmed records of Necrons fielding super-heavy vehicles comparable with the likes of the Imperial Baneblade and the Eldar Scorpion. Instead, the Necrons seem to favour the deployment of specialised Monolith formations whose combined might is greater than the sum of their parts. Such is the case with the Doomsday Phalanx. First sighted during the Damnos Incident, but since reported in many other conflicts, the Doomsday Phalanx holds at its core a heavily modified Monolith called a Doomsday Monolith by the Imperium that is protected by a phase shift energy generator of unknown design, and has been noted to be capable of focusing awesome destructive energies into devastating viridian beams which can be fired from its Gauss Obliterator. Worse still, a "Doomsday Monolith" is inevitably accompanied by several lesser constructions whose eldritch power it can siphon towards its own cataclysmic ends. Step 3: I’m doing orange weapons. I do a few thin coats of Trollslayer Orange to start. Dot the eye, do the glowing parts of the gun and the cables. The final step on the necron themselves is to do the extreme edge highlights, I used a common colour for each of metallics and conventional paints to help tie them all together.

Monolith - Wahapedia

A Monolith is a massive mobile fortress used by the Necrons as their primary planetary assault craft. A Monolith combines the properties of a transport craft, armoured destroyer and icon of undying Necron power. Each time a unit's reanimation protocols are enacted, make Reanimation Protocol rolls for that unit by rolling a number of D6 equal to the combined Wounds characteristics of all the reassembling models. Each Reanimation Protocol roll of 5+ is put into a pool. A Reanimation Protocol roll can never be modified by more than -1 or +1. Armed with technology perfected before Mankind ever rose from their primordial soup, the Necrons utilise weapons and strategies incomprehensible to all of the other intelligent races of the galaxy. Though the Warp is anathema to the metallic legions of the former Necrontyr, there are many other dimensions that are part of the fabric of Creation they can use of which other starfaring species are wholly ignorant. If three or more Monoliths are projecting Nightshrouds between them, a Nodal Grid is formed with the Nightshrouds as the boundaries for the grid. No psykers within a Nodal Grid are capable of using psychic powers, and damaged units within the Nodal Grid are more likely to regenerate. [Needs Citation] Variants However, Monoliths can also descend safely from great heights using their sophisticated anti-gravitic engines. Monoliths have also been observed to be carried by the even larger constructs known as Megaliths; vast, mobile, starfaring Necron fortresses which integrate detachable Monoliths to better deploy them as support during a planetary assault.
