That all adds up to 1100 watts of face melting power – that stays clean and distortion free, even at max volume. (That can’t be said for other brands I’ve tried.) There’s also a whole bunch of fun stuff on the speaker like the trigger pad (I’m not a DJ, I can conceptualize how to use this thing, but in practice I have no idea if it’s relevant or not) and the light show on the front is just bonkers. Where to Get One Outside of the thumping bass, the music sounds fantastic. It’s clean and clear, you can hear each instrument as well as every lyric, and it’s got tonnes of energy to it as well. It’s a party speaker through and through. However, what is still associated with this description certainly does not apply here, first and foremost a compact size.

You might not care for a light show in which case the best wireless speaker you can buy is the T3 five-star rated Naim Mu-So 2nd Gen. The sound is huge and it looks super sophisticated too. I like the 710 light show better for that reason. Its a personal preference, but it just feels more about making the party cool, then making the speaker look cool.For live music action, a mic and guitar can also be plugged in, making this PartyBox ideal for intimate gigs, karaoke and, of course, party DJs. Not only can the JBL PartyBox 710 provide a dynamic light show to match the music, but synchronised to the music, there is also a colour run strobe, RGB animation, colour projection light, as well as starlight and club light available. No battery, only mains operation But now lets talk about tech specs. When the 710 was first announced I assumed that it had a built in battery just given JBL’s past naming structure. Partybox’s that started with an odd number like the Partybox 100, 110, 300 and 310 all had built in batteries… and partybox’s that started with an even number didn’t have a built in battery like the Partybox 200 and 1000. But unfortunately the Partybox 710 doesn’t have a built in battery. You can only use while its plugged in. And you’ll might want t get an extension cord cause the included cable that you get with this speaker isn’t super long.

All of the materials used for construction are solid and of excellent quality; this speaker does not feel cheap in any way. In the front of the JBL PartyBox, 710 are two giant 8-inch woofers, and two 2.75-inch tweeters flanked by LED light strips and LED lights scattered inside the speaker grille. The JBL logo is placed center and is not gaudy or overbearing. Neither the 710 nor the 1000 have batteries, so neither can be considered true “portable” speakers however both have wheels and handles, and can be fairly easily moved from one place to the next. At 800W, the sound is undeniably huge. The JBL PartyBox 710 will literally shake your walls, especially when you turn on Bass Boost. Even at about a quarter of the volume it completely filled up my living room and probably annoyed the neighbours. If you’re a party host then it’ll definitely get things going. The Partybox 1000 was one of the first Partyboxes JBL came out with, and it’s still on its first generation.However, everything else about the 710 is pretty much the same as the 310 and 110. The 710 has 2 quarter inch inputs so that you can plug in a pair of microphones if you want to do Karaoke. Which I’m sure your neighbors are going to be so happy. I know I am. And if you want, you can play around with the bass, treble and echo on your microphone. However just keep in mind this will only affect the sound of your microphone not your music. And there’s also these DJ effects buttons. Now personally I wouldn’t use them… but they’re there. It has more strobe functions, including colored strobes, and feels like it projects more of a club vibe than that of the 1000.
