Overall, Air frying is healthier than deep frying in oil - cutting calories by around 70% and a lot less fat. With its five different settings that enable you to grill, bake, roast, air fry and dehydrate, it's an air fryer with a difference. We reviewed each one to see how the fryer fared… An air fryer has become an extremely popular kitchen appliance in the past couple of years thanks to its ability to help us appear more accomplished in the kitchen than we may really be. It's certainly made cooking easy again. We found the settings very easy to use, although a thorough read of the booklet is recommended. You simply select the type of cooking, temperature and time. The booklet is a lifesaver, as it has full instructions for every type of food possible. All that space isn’t just there so you can bulk fry chips, though. The extra-large capacity houses Tefal’s 2in1 function, which enables you to cook two different elements of your meal in one place. With a rotating stirring paddle on the bottom and a static upper tray on top, you can cook a curry and air fry samosas in the same machine, saving on time and washing up.

Measuring 30.5 x 39 x 28 cm, the grill fryer has a sleek stainless steel body that will look stylish on any worktop. Aluminium foil can go in the air fryer basket as a base for certain foods but only use a small amount and only in the basket of the air fryer. Never wrap or cover the food or use an excessive amount of foil as the less foil you use, the more airflow you’ll have. If you were cooking meats, you would do exactly the same but insert the temperature probe once done - which will tell you how cooked it is in the middle. Good models will come with dishwasher-safe removable parts and a pull-out loading tray that slots into the machine. For easy cooking from the get-go, look out for models with preset functions for popular dishes too. These work out the timings and temperatures for you.Kitchen countertop space is a precious commodity, so if you’re considering the Salter Dual Air Fryer, be aware of how much space it takes up. It measures 40cm in length, 36.1cm in width, and 32cm in height – that is bigger than your average four-slice toaster. If you already have a microwave, kettle, toaster and perhaps a food blender, you may have to think about where your air fryer will go, or do you have cupboard space for it? While the Salter comes with a recipe booklet, there will obviously be some of your favourite recipes that aren’t included. To prepare for Christmas dinner, I tested out Brussels sprouts cooked with bacon. Too long meant they reduced to barely the size of a pea and were very crispy, but by Christmas Day, I'd learned the perfect cooking time of 10 minutes and they were plenty flavourful. Bacon is also a great meat to cook in the air fryer if you like it crispy, but a beef burger dried out and didn’t retain its moisture, so it was almost inedible. The Salter Dual Air essentially combines two air fryers side-by-side. You can use either side independently of the other, allowing you to cook one dish only, or to cook two foods – each can have its own different settings if needed. It’s much the same setup as we’ve seen from the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone, currently our favourite all-round air fryer, and that’s a strong starting place. For example, potato wedges take 20 minutes at 190 degrees, so you would simply select the air frying button at 190 degrees, preheat and then insert the food. We found the unboxing and setting up of the Aero Grill a simple and easy process and although the machine doesn’t take up a lot of space (much less than a small microwave) it is quite heavy and is best kept in one place rather than moving around. It’s quite a beast, but if you use an air fryer all of the time, cook large portions (or for lots of people) and want quality results each time, then there’s nothing better than this model.
