About this deal

Archaon’s personal legion is perhaps the craziest of the legions in terms of rules for two reasons: Firstly, most of the rules for this legion are dependent on Archaon himself being your general and on the battlefield, and secondly rather than getting a list of artefacts and command traits, a bonus special rule table is provided for the Varanguard, Archie’s personal posse.

We are a small team of Warhammer Enthusiasts and miniature collectors, hoping to support and further promote the hobby. They do improve a fair bit if you play Idolators since you can take them as battleline and give them a mark of chaos. The stuff that’s passable gets even better, Iron Golems with the Mark of Nurgle can get 3+ rerollable saves for instance. It doesn’t really justify Idolators very much, but it’s something different. There are also command traits available to heroes that let them fight a second time in a combat phase, roll on a special Eye of the Gods table which offers powerful boons (or treacherous traps on a poor roll), allow them to know all spells in the legion's spellbook, or become a Priest which changes the God keyword on any Undivided cultist in your army. There are also special command traits for the monstrous Daemon Princes, boosting their wounds, auto-healing nearby allies, and more.If you want pure metal though, buy a second Start Collecting! and use everything from both, excepting the second Karkadrak….. I am not saying it’s great on the table but you can turn the volume up to eleven and headbang your way to a 0-5. So, is it a buy? There are heaps of new tabletop gambits to discover inside – though the hellish headlines all herald Eye of the Gods boons and Ensorcelled Banners to let you lavish gifts on your most favoured units. The next big difference between the Warhammer 40k and AoS versions is the chest armor, as the 40k one has more tubes and such. Then, the one arm doesn’t actually work for the 40k bits. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

We’ve got Death Dealer as our Command Trait, and this will allow our General to fight for a second time in the fight phase once per battle. Admittedly it’s with the Strike-last effect, but even so, well worth having. We all know dual wield should be the correct option, with a dove fly-by, but sadly only giving reroll hits and losing the mortal wound repelling ability of the shield (5+ MW ignore) simply isn’t worth it.

Other benefits: The Nurgle warshrine prayer allows reroll of wounds to a nearby unit, with a bonus +1 to saves if said unit is Nurgle marked – great if you’re mono Nurgle but if you’re not then praying to Chaos for rerolls to hits and wounds is outright better. Powerful buffs –Your guys buff each other to make them stronger, and in the right hands few can stand against them. Ellarr: I think Slaanesh or Nurgle are more exciting choices for this unit, because it further pushes their damage output and I like my hammer units to be proper smashy. There are updates to be found on the blossoming beef between the Everchosen and Be’lakor . The Dark Master has recruited whole legions to his penumbral banner through subterfuge, daemonic bribery, and promises of power – and he’s not stopping there… SRM: Much like Furies, these are a fast moving chaff unit good to fill a few points, harass weak units, or run around and cap objectives. Similarly, they have no save to speak of, and can’t take marks so they don’t really interact with your army. If you’re an old school Warhammer Fantasy player, think of these kind of like Chaos Warhounds.Knights are apparently scary *cough*, so their Horrifying ability subtracts one Bravery from enemy units with a model within 1″…. ahem. The Slaves to Darkness rise again, ready to stain the Mortal Realms red with the blood of any who would oppose them. Their army set includes 14 new miniatures – a Daemon Prince, 10 Chaos Chosen, and three Ogroid Theridons. Blasphemous Cuirass: Roll a dice each time a mortal wound is allocated to the bearer. On a 5+, that mortal wound is negated. A solid if boring defensive artefact that may see use if you are in a particular MW heavy meta. C+
