I will admit, however, that for the sake of this review I did shoot the lens at different apertures to make sure that it was nice and sharp throughout. These lenses are good if you are looking for something that has a soft rendering at portrait / close distances. This along with the focus peaking, and the magnification features in the Fujifilm cameras makes the job pretty easy.

Obviously at night time it has its limitations when separating the subject you want in focus from the background can be much harder because of the lack of light and added noise from amplifying the light on the digital sensor. Mitakon focusing range can be fine-tuned, while another implementation can be calibrated by only adding lens mount shims. For me, this is particularly important because as a boudoir and street fashion photographer, I like to capture a more spontaneous moment, and that will be more difficult, if I’m taking my sweet old time trying to focus a lens.Mid frame the 7artisans seems to have a little bit of a dark rings near the edges of the blurry specular highlights, but when you change the exposure up to match that of the Mitakon they are again similar. years ago I could only dream about ultra fast lens in a compact form factor for native Fuji X mount.

I just bought this lens over the Internet from a local supplier and as soon as I opened the box I checked the lens with a flashlight and it was full of 4-5 mm fibres. The size and weight are just about right where you can leave it in your camera bag permanently or use all day long without feeling fatigue. full frame equivalent), that huge maximum aperture assures that you can create a lot of defocused area, and the resulting bokeh is nice and creamy. Still have mixed feelings whether it is best forking more money to get the Mitakon or spending less and get the 7Artisans which seems to perform closely to the Mitakon. This can also be seen in the fact that it uses a standard 52 mm filter thread just like Fujifilms own 35mm f/1. When I first started shooting I noticed zero difference but after going into more detail there are a few differences between the two which leads me to believe that either this is sample variation or these lenses have little minute differences between each other. Also Risespray aperture ring is very very light, like you look at it and it turns, the 7artisans is much better in that regard. Fast continuous shooting, reliable autofocus and great battery life are just three of the most important factors.

If you don’t already own the Mitakon, and you’re on the lookout for one of these lenses it’s a no brainer. It tackles a very wide maximum aperture with aplomb, and I find using a lens like this a lot of fun…so long as you have time to shoot a little more deliberately. TT like to pay homage to classic designs, whereas new Fuji lenses are plain boring imho, in stark contrast to their bodies.
